Lord of the Rings Mystery Minis

Great things come in mysterious miniature or pint sized packages, but which great thing will it be? It's all a mystery until you open one. Then the fun begins.

Broke down and ordered 10 boxes last night on HT site. Still no word of restocks :( My store only got 1 box in, which luckily was a Witch King, but still need a shot at Lurtz and Eowyn.

Hoping to scoop up some of the missing ones from Gamestop (the only other place around me that routinely gets minis), but distribution has been rough to say the least. I'm trying to be patient, but only one Gamestop near me got them in and that was nearly 2 weeks ago! Crazy slow. Usually if one store gets them, the other nearby stores all have them within the week

Been checking everyday but haven't seen them yet. The Toysrus near me did get them in but someone stole the rare ones and left the empty boxes...

BN.com updated and you can now order boxes directly now. In the past I've just grabbed from the stores however with at least the stores around me just now getting in their initial 3 boxes (grabbed all 3 from the closet B&N within 20 miles that received their stock and ended up with Merry, Merry & Gandalf) so I'm thinking I'll just order online.

If I were to order 12 from BN.com, would I end up with a case or just 12 loose boxes?

Just ordered some from B&N online. None of my stores have had them yet...unless I missed them...so here is hoping for the best. Still need to track down Arwen and the Nazgul as well.

My husband put this list of weights together based on all the LOTR mystery minis he bought.

NAME EXCLU WEIGHTS (g)
Aragorn - 1/12 61, 60, 58
Arwen - 1/72 57
Boromir - 1/12 58, 59, 59
Frodo Baggins - 1/6 47, 47
Galadriel GITD - 1/36 B&N 57
Gandalf - 1/12 74
Gimli - 1/12 73
Legolas - 1/12 58
Merry - 1/24 46
Pippin - 1/24 46, 47
Samwise - 1/6 45, 47, 47, 44, 47, 47
Witch-king - 1/36 HT 65,66

It seems as though the cases may be following the same system that the Harry Potter cases did. Has anyone found a letter sticker on the box that the case comes in? The Harry Potter ones had A-F, I think. It seems as though if you pull the witch king from a Hot Topic box, it is likely you will get both Merry and Pippin for 1/24's. :-k

HT held a case for us but there were no HT exclusives in it... and the likelihood of HT even getting more in any time soon is low, ugh

The box we got a couple weeks ago did not have a letter on the outer case. We got a Witch King, and it did indeed have both Merry and Pippin in with it.

No shippers have letters for this entire line common and exclusive. :(

This is the weights with all the original packaging. So it should be what you would get if you took a scale to the store.

As for Frodo and samwise we got a lot of samwise so on average they ran the same. It seems as though they made all hobbits the same weight.

Thanks for this. Gonna buy a scale and put this list to good use. Anyone have any tips when using a scale in a store, as to not seem to weird or draw too much attention to myself?

I just usually clear a spot on a shelf so that the scale is level, and just draw a diagram on my phone or a scrap paper. Then I weigh each according to the layout (in case there are layout patterns). Usually if you are clear about not damaging/opening the boxes, and aren't stealing anything, most won't care (though it sounds like some people have run into stores that don't allow it). Also, make sure if you did clear shelf space that you put the items back properly.

You get loose boxes not a master box. Otherwise I’d just buy that heh.

I figured that was most likely the case but thought maybe you'd catch a shipper/packer who wanted to be lazy and just dropped an entire case in.

Sadly quite normal since the exclusives are 1/36 or 1/72. Galadriel ends up being in the sole spot where an exclusive could go.

Heh yeah that would definitely make it easier (and nicer for us if that were the case!) (pun intended lol)

And yeah it was funny when I opened her up first I kinda sighed but at the same time I was able to get most of the mid range rarer ones in one swoop. Still need the 3 ht ones though

Basically! If an employee starts to get suspicious, you can always admit to what you are doing, and just mention that you're trying to find the ones you need.

There's nothing wrong with it. Just be respectful, don't make a mess, and if someone asks tell them. Nothing says understanding like 42 dupe spiderman minis. 1/6 needs to go away period.

The scale isn't always right anyway, is still a gamble. But can save you from getting an extra hobbit, sometimes.

I ended up buying the Witch King and Sauron online. I really, really like the Witch King. The details on all of these are great. What is everyone's favorite so far? Besides Witch King, Gimli is great (always liked his helmet and outfit).
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." - John 3:16-17, KJV

Cant wait until my HT order comes in. I had to do 3 orders of 4 so hopefully I get a nice pull. Also got a GITD Galadriel on the way.

Anyone know of any "sweet spots" for the common case?

Wish I had HT and Barnes in Canada :( Would love to buy a case

Supposed to get my B&N order today, if I can get 2 of the 3 exclusives I will consider that a win. An Arwen or Nazgul would be cool too. Fingers crossed and here's hoping.
