Why should Funko give two s*** about the secondhand market? They aren't in it to make US money.... I have paid far more than retail for a lot of pieces but if they were rereleased I wouldnt care in the slightest, in fact I would tip my hat to Funko for allowing new and old collectors to finally have access to figures that may have originally been out of their price range.

Love the display!

Kimchi Pasta wrote:While there are some rarer Pop pieces in my collection I've paid premium dollars for (that the collector in me hopes stays retired to justify my money spent), there are MANY more out there that I wish I could have at a retail price and hope they un-vault.
I think it's in Funko's best interest to un-vault some retired ones in steady intervals. It will expand it's market base (hopefully) which in turn will secure more licenses as they become more popular.

Sigh. I've been stalking eBay for a decent price on Green Arrow (luckily have the Gemini metallic one!)

Guess I will wait just in case. I would hit myself for paying big bucks to have him come out a couple months later!

All I want is Shazam. I know a lot of people who paid $100 for him would be pretty upset, but if they could bring out one character from the vault, I would want it to be him.

I wonder if the pops have to be listed in the Vault section on Funko's website to be "unvaulted"? They a lot of Disney pops listed like Genie, Belle, and Sulley, but I don't see some of the older ones like DC and Marvel.

I was going to post this exact message.
people selling retired pops at 4-10x the price doesn't help Funko in the least. If anything it hurts, not having more money in their pockets for pieces people want.
If anything they need to look at some of the resell prices and base it off that.
If they want to charge more money for previously vaulted items. I'm sure people would still pay. Heck depending on where you shop, pops are different prices. anyway.
Lets get these unvaulted and let new collectors enjoy what others have.
They shouldn't be punished because they started a bit later than others.

for those who don't want this to happen that's a bit of a selfish notion imo. If anything.
Not everyone has been in the right situation to get these when they wanted them. Or for some like myself I was overseas for 5 years and had no way of getting these.
if you paid over retail that was your choice. I understand it stings. heck I haven't been collecting long myself and i've already paid up to 30 for some pops. but I wouldn't be bitter about it coming out for retail later.
LET THIS HAPPEN!

I understand why people who paid top dollar would be upset buy at the same time if Funko changes up the box doesnt their "original version" still hold its value? Cause everyone else is getting something different box-wise?

Wouldn't that only matter for Box collectors anyway?
If you take em out the box then wouldn't matter at all if it was 1st edition or 2nd

That is very true. I guess OOB collectors will still not like this.
I personally dont care what edition it is. If I can get a Pop that I missed out on because I was late to the Funko game I will be thrilled.

Since a lot of the harder to find Disney Pops were exclusive to the Disney Store, would Funko even be allowed to rerelease those if they wanted to?

I'm dying for Ursula, Cruella, and Mad Hatter like everyone else, but I'm worried that since they were exclusives, we'll never see them again.

I don't think any were actually exclusive to the Disney store. The first few sets were only sold at the Disney Store and had the store logo on the box, but they were then released to other stores and had the standard Disney logo.

Anything would be great as long as they dont re-release everything at once. Switch up the vault pops every year and make it an event like the star wars ones and it will go well. I paid good $ for some old pops i really wanted and i know some people will be upset but it's about the collection so I'm looking forward to it!

I would be thrilled personally. I have a few Pops that I spent more than I am proud of on and it would sting a little to see them priced at retail, but I would have no one to blame but myself.

Star Wars is all set so the other properties that make sense are Disney, Marvel, and DC. A boom in collecting and a decent amount of casual buyers make those licenses logical to re-release. The amount of people who buy a few POPs here and there exceeds the number of serious collectors so they probably are (and should be) a big factor in what to re-release. Kids also buy/receive POPs so that is a market beyond simply adults.
