Re: Informing You For Your Protection.....
You got to be proactive rather than reactive. They should start authenticating them before they even leave Funko. I started collecting in November and went full force in learning everything I could about POPs and within the first week of collecting I saw that you could easily strip to their original state and they would look like the protos. This is not the reason I do not collect them but it certainly does not help. So again, nip this thing in the bud before it gets out of hand. PROACTIVE>REACTIVE

Can someone please explain to me what the heck is a proto? Also wouldn't it be easier if Funko just put a marking or something to identify them?

Re: Informing You For Your Protection.....
This is why I prefer white protos (besides genuinely liking the look better). To me they are the proto's proto so I like their history more anyway. Plus they all match
Since I started collecting Pop! and learned about protos and paint thinners I just operated by my own purchasing policy: buy from Gemini, buy from established board members, win from funko. I assume all eBay (exception of vetted board members of course) color protos are fake (obviously they all aren't but it's how I decided to operate my buying habits.) White protos I'm less weary of due to the added work in forging them, ie, making a mold, poring a white plastic, etc. so expensive to forge it kinda defeats the purpose.

Oh man, This is just something annoying that's bound to create confusion. I'm actually surprised it wasn't done sooner... Was glad it hadn't happened though. I don't even collect protos and this is annoying me hahaha
Good heads up though, Stacey! Protecting the Funatics!
Also, hello everyone! I've been kinda AWOL lately. Been pretty busy and sick and just a mix of things. Blergh. Should be getting back on a bit more regularly. I have a couple of Disney metallic pieces I'm going to do a "Sophie's-back-on-the-board giveaway", yay!

Unless you managed to score the 'All-White DIY Blank Male Pop proto'. I'm hoping to pick up the DIY color proto on Gemini one day.

I came back to this thread and it looks to have been edited from it's first posting. Who picks these admin?
Anyway, I like the proactive vs reactive with a car's seat belt as an example. Yes, my life is just as important as a expensive toy possibly being fake.
If you are all in a huff about this write funko asking for some kind of C.O.A. or mark on protos. You have all shown to be able to use the internet. Also, why not vote with your wallets as well. Don't buy a proto w/o a C.O.A. or marking on the pop that can not or is really hard to forge. Other wise this is all just hot air.

I'm the one who said the "proactive/ reactive" comment. Another person made a reference to the seat belt issue in response to someone else stating "it's not a problem until it's a problem". They used the "seat belt" analogy to give the example of a time when you act before hand rather then wait for something bad to happen. In no way did the person imply that the issue of making fake toys and the safety of wearing a seat belt, were equal or that one was more important than the other. They weren't even saying anything about them being comparable.
Maybe Im incorrect but but your "Yes, my life is just as important as a expensive toy possibly being fake." remark seems crude and way off base. It's not even accurate to what the person you are trying to ridicule was trying to say.
If you were in fact being honest or making a joke in reference to your love of Funko products when saying "Yes, my life is just as important as a expensive toy possibly being fake." then i apologize for misreading your tone.

I think some people in this thread should show some more respect to the mods. If you agree or not is your business, but trying to insult someone who is trying to help is not a very cool thing to do.

Oh, I was making a sarcastic joke about the seat belt thing. Context can be lost over the internet.
For other questions asked - in no order.
I am an admin to a number of facebook groups. I think if you add all the members up it comes to a little over 2k. Granted none of the the groups are for POPs. The POP groups I joined had way to much flipping. So, I left them.
Calling me a "brat" and not liking what I have to say I believe supports a small amount of what I have posted. Why not ask me why I feel this way instead of (to paraphrase) "go away".
I like POPs. I have helped a few people get POPs that other wise couldn't get in this forum and out side this forum. I don't have the room for many of them. So, I have donated a good amount to charity. I have also taken part and held fundraisers.
Do you members have to be shown pics of pops I have sent to a friend's nephew with leukemia? Do you want to see paypal statements where I raised money for a man in WA that got diagnosed with stage four cancer? Hey, I even donated to food shelters in PA. I almost forgot about that one.
This forum seems more like a click than a place for an open discussion.
Sorry, if I have seen a contradiction and pointed it out. (that was sarcastic)
Anyway, I am sure you guys will lock this thread or delete it. I'll probably get banned or some kind of warning.
There is my reply to you guys or females that got so upset.
