1:55pm ET Batmobile hits the site
1:57pm ET Site begins to run unbearably slow
2:00pm ET Site is lost
Toy Tokyo issues statement on twitter asking for our patience and blaming John aka Haydenstorm
Also learned via twitter only 100 pieces will be available
Grrrrr...let me add to your recap.
1. Create a product with high demand at an unusually low number and sell it at NYCC
2. Do not get product in time and sell only 24 a day to several hundred thousand convention goers*
* They got short shipped, not their fault but still - 2 years in a row?
3. With only 100 pieces left, announce to the world via social media and the entire TT email mailing list that they will be available online at 2 pm
4. Server crashes at 2pm - as predicted by us
5. Proceed to complain about unusually high demand that they themselves created when they told EVERYONE the exact time they would be on the site.
6. Schedule a new time for the sale at a time when most east-coasters are likely leaving work, on their way home from work or are stuck in traffic.
Congratulations Toy Tokyo - Fantastic job!
