Guys...

Postby IanMackaye » Mon Jul 22, 2013 11:30 am

I'm starting a counseling center for people addicted to buying Funko products. I'm going to make bank from it and buy more pop's with it! Oh wait...

Seriously though, how addicted are you and when did it start? I wish I knew about Pop's sooner, but I'm not huge on toy collecting, I just saw them one day and was hooked. The fact that they make so many different types for almost every person is what really appealed to me...that, and how they all had a similar look. An awesome look! Now it's like every time I'm at Barnes and Noble, I don't leave without one..I think they know me :O I'm always browsing on eBay, Amazon, Gemini, etc. My first exclusives arrive today! I'm excited. I want to get myself a couple Freddy's, but feel like that will be a dumb idea lol. I still don't have even one yet though and you have to get at least one, right? (Flash forward to 3 months later and ill have 10).

TL;DR What got you hooked, and when?

For me, it's always Star Wars. Then it was my love for all things comics & pop culture. I just can't quit you, Star Wars, no matter how hard I try.

I love so many things that they've made, and (using SW as an example) it's like okay well I can't just get Luke, that's just dumb..I obviously need every character ever created. I love Star Wars, Disney, etc.

Regarding your "wants" list, that's why I wish I knew about Pop's sooner. I would have owned those Hendrix and Marley ones the second I saw them. Now they're hard to find and at least 50$

It all began when we stopped in a Disney store on our honeymoon. My wife picked up Belle and Beast and she loved them. Later I found out about the other lines and now about 220 pops later we are truly addicted. On Thursday she stopped by my work at noon for the Gemini unleashing and encouraged the major spending that went down. She has a near complete Disney set (Missing D23 Mickey and Glow Oogie) and I have most of the Marvel pieces. We also have many others (Hobbit, Oz, DM2, Gremlins, etc). Once we got on the forum though it was all over. This is our biggest addiction and I love every minute of it!

Mine started near the end of March this year, found a Thor bobble head for $2 at a closing blockbuster, looked up the company at the bottom and found the Funko pop spreadsheet. From then on I was hooked seeing how cool so many of them were, found the forums and stalked for a few days until joining.

Flash forward a few months I have 170+ pieces plus pre buy coming and I just got back from SDCC where I met what seems to me to be a whole new family. I love the collecting but even if I have or choose to stop I still plan on staying a art of this community.

I work in a comic store that carries them. I blame the fact that I'm surrounded by them and participating on this forum for my addiction. I collected them idly when I first joined. I wanted a Harley Quinn though so made a crack at modding my first toy. Looking for a place to show it off I joined the forum. It wasn't until I joined the forum that I became seriously addicted. And because of my knowledge of Funko products gained through participating in the forum the manager at my store who orders everything has made me her Funko consultant. So really, it's sorta me job to be addicted :D

Same here. I still stalk ebay and Amazon trying to get a good deal on the Hendrix and Marley figs. I may just have to suck it up and buy them when I get some money. And those Star Wars figures will be the death of me, I want all of them!!

How seriously am I addicted? What started out as four KISS Pops in fall of 2010 has blossomed into 260+ Pops, 36 blind box minis and 11 wobblers. And that doesn't include what's coming in from SDCC, or what's in Brooks' collection as he has many of the Exclusives that I do. :D

To say I LOVE/am addicted to Funko is an understatement. I stalk Gemini, eBay, B&N, Amazon, everywhere to feed the addiction. I hope they NEVER find a cure because I love it!!

I would say I'm pretty addicted, even though I don't have a big collection yet. I saw the Game of Thrones Pops posted on another forum I frequent, so I looked up the company and the rest is history. Since I found Funko last month, I read this forum and the blogs every day, and I can see my collection growing more and more over the next few years. I don't know what it is about the Pops, but I love them and they make me happy.

At first, I had no interest in vinyl figures but it all started when I got Mr. Incredible and Syndrome for my birthday a couple of years ago since The Incredibles is one of my favorite movies. When I saw that Elastigirl and Edna E. Mode were in the works, I eagerly awaited their debut in the stores. I ended buying not just those two, but several other Pop!s that I thought were cool...then I thought, might as well go all the way and complete the Disney series. After that, all was a blur...flash forward to now, I now have most of the Disney Pop!s and some other non-Disney pops as well...just hit #100 with my SDCC 2013 metallic Dumbo...with more on the way...and I see no end in sight...but no, I don't think I have a problem (...stage one: denial)

Michael, Freddy's can be a very expensive part of Funko collecting. Of course, the best way to get one on the cheap is join the Funko FunKlub.

Here's the sign up form from the Funko web site: http://funko.com/signup.pdf (you have to print the form, fill it out and mail it)

The form is a bit out of date; it says you'll receive a Freddy Wobbler, but the norm now is a blue tie 00 Freddy PoP. Hard to beat for $16. Just so you know, I believe someone in the last few months did receive a Freddy Wobbler, but it's the only one I've heard of since I joined last August. Of course, I'm very partial to the Wobbler, so that would be a bonus for me.

Thanks! I've noticed about the expensive part

And yeah, I'm partial to Pop's so I hope they send me one, that'd be nice. Freddy in Pop! form looks so awesome to me.

I started out only wanting to complete the Justice League after getting Superman and Batman from Target. Then that erupted into a growing collection and a new hobby of customizing.

i was breeding high end snakes and lizards, mainly different genetic color and pattern variations. i say collection because i had over 100 snakes and several hundred lizards. it was a buisness i was starting when i thought my injuires were going to get better over time. but when they didnt it became too much to handle with all the surgeries i was having. lets just say my wife is much happier with ups showing up than she was when i was getting rat delieveries for the snakes
