SDCC flippers

Postby juventuser » Sun Jul 21, 2013 2:32 pm

I'm at the con right now and saw a booth (6xx, an oregan pop retailer) selling 5 4-inch and 2 9-inch Freddies. They priced them 40 for ace, 60 for Rv walker and 80 for batman. They also explained how hard they got the Funday tickets. Just feel sad about them and don't ask me to buy from them. However, I think that price is reasonable at least.

So a collectors competition is now with retailers. I've been seeing people all over the board today hoping for those items.

I went to Matt's Cavalcade of Comics yesterday looking for the GITD B&W Deadpool, and they were selling their Freddy pops. Didnt ask how much cus didnt need em, but they had Ace fredy, joker freddy, walker freddy, and they also had a 9" Daryl Freddy for $300 and 9" Freddy Batman proto for $200 (which isnt bad I guess) but still kinda sucks that they were all at the table right next to us at fundays, ended up getting all that (while our table got absolutely nothing) and put all for sale the following morning.

Its no biggie for me. It happens and cant really be stopped. I feel bad for all the other collectors who had no chances of getting them or who got nothing at fundays. There was a girl at our table attending her first fundays. The box of freddys were her first ever, and she wanted to start collecting. All she walked out with was a proto because our table got chosen as the "loser" table haha. And the table next to us is getting all this stuff and then selling it next day. As fun as fundays was this year, didnt feel like a "collectors" event anymore, but its really inevitable with how popular the product has gotten. Like Elaine said, we are no longer competing with collectors to get what we want, now there are retailers and flippers to compete against it. And there are a ton.

It's basically the same as Gemini selling the Freddy pieces.

I think it sucks for people who traveled or funatics who went and did not win anything but retailers and resellers who had no intention of keeping the items got free stuff. It is the nature of collecting and there is always people like that, doesnt mean it doesnt suck.

Yeah i thought about getting that freddy to trade down the line but I just hate buying from flippers. Price was great, yeah but they took the opportunity away from a lot of collectors who actually want this piece. Just reminded me of our table at fundays. One of the prizes was a freddy wobbler, and our whole table and table next to us were all pop collectors so we werenlike we dont want wobblers, lets not make any noise so our table wont win. We want those dumbos!!! Good times

I don't think Steve gets Freddy's for free. He purchases items from Funko to sell as a retailer.

Attending Fundays is a chance to come home with something awesome for your collection, but not a guarantee. The only guarantee is that you'll get a Box of Fun that was part of your admission, unless it gets stolen by some prick.

Yup, n we all love Gemini but u gotta admit the prices on the reg freddys are a bit too much this year. I know he doesnt get them go free but let's say he pays $40 per one which I doubt n sells them to us for $150 that's a he'll of a gain. Wish he sold the at them at retailer flipper prices. Though I gotta say that's my only gripe with Gemini everything else has been very well priced. Can't imagine what they will charge us next year for Freddys.

Let's not forget what Gemini has to pay for shipping or delivery from coast to coast. That's probably why prices are higher then the retailers at the con.

So far he's only posted 2 96 LE Ghost Riders for $150 and all the 12 LE for $300. Doesn't sound too crazy since last year's 12 LE were $250 and then were all resold for more.

As far as I know there were no 9" Freddys last year so there's no price point to work off.

Let's not forget these people paid for flight, hotel, car, tickets, eating in another state, took off of work to be there.

I think people seem to forget nothing is "free" if you paid $1,500 to be there and get handed something in the end it wasn't free. I'm sure most plan to sell some to cover some costs to be able to go again next con.
