Ideas For Displaying Protos

Postby Sledge » Sat Nov 24, 2012 1:11 pm

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to display all these new protos that I got yesterday (these are my first protos). I'm not totally content with the 6 protos being next to their production pieces all mixed in on the risers with the other 100+ pops, and having them separated to a separate area by themselves looks odd as well. I'm thinking maybe designate an entire row on the shelves just for protos.

What do y'all do? Any suggestions for an avid Pop collector that is just now getting into collecting Protos?

One day I hope to have this problem. As of now, sadly, I don't have any protos :(

I don't have a ton of protos either. It seems we feel the same way, I like things to be organized. I have a shelf designated just for protos, then two shelves just for Freddy's, then two shelves just for specials (CC's, etc...). At first I tried to put everything next to their signifigant others but it looked like a mish mosh, is that a word, but that is just me.

Totally agree. I have my Pops on their risers grouped to where they are around their related friends. All my Monsters Inc. figures are next to each other -- which themselves are grouped within the Pixar area -- so having one Boo proto mixed in just looks silly.

What is it they say? "First world problems"? lol

Sledge Definitely not a bad problem to have! :)

I prefer to group my protos and prod pieces together by theme/movie.

Mine are next to their production pieces. I don't have hundreds of pieces so they stand out and they are all the same theme as well

Nice! I like the TK11. I have a LD20 in my car for flats/emergencies at night but I need to get one to put in my house

I always figured that when I do claim a proto, that I'd get an extra production run figure, and use that box.

The only problem with that, is it has the potential to be another big expense over time.

OOOORRRR you could buy an extra production piece (for cheaper :-$ ) and have and extra Pop! to display/give away. :D Just depends on if you like the look of that specific display.

I'd think the proto's awesomeness would get lost in a box displayed within a wall of protos...

Maybe the plastic insert in a clear pop protector... I just have them out for now, eventually some will be in a display case. I don't think I will ever have them in a box where they will just blend in with other boxed figures.
