Gemini generally has wobbler protos at 150, from what I understand the protos were not always priced so high. So there is a chance the price comes back down, also not to long ago Gemini had a proto blow out sale and they were priced much cheaper. As with most things, you pay as much as the item is worth to you.

On Gemini, if a proto sits long enough...the price will usually drop. Could take several months though, and of course you run the risk of someone else buying it before you can get it. So it kinda depends on how bad you want it.
Pricing usually also depends on how desirable the piece is. Some sell quick at 100 to 150, others you can't even give away.

$90-150 is a common price for them, usually the range I buy mine. Like it was said before, it depends how much you want it.

I've paid a lot for some protos. It just depends on the subject. I really miss the days, though, when protos were gifts from Funko and not commodities from vendors.

That is true, up until about 5-6 years ago I had never paid money for a prototype. They were always gifts from Funko or handed out at events. The Fun Days in Las Vegas in 2003 was a great example of that. Mike Becker walked around and would simply walk up to someone and hand them a proto or a rare piece of Funko and then walk away and disappear in the crowd. Mike was funny like that.
I guess times change, but remembering the good ole days can be a fun trip!

Sarah,
If you're looking at the NBX protos at Gemini, they're priced too high at $150 in my opinion. Unfortunately, I think that they're going to stay that way for a while. If it were me, I would wait until all traces of Frankenweenie have disappeared from from the media spotlight and there's no more "cult of Burton" to fight against or to drive prices. That might be a good time to make an offer. Prices may even come down on their own.
Of course, you'd be risking them not being available. That's a tightrope we've all walked. Whatever you decide, good luck to you.
Jim...I've been thinking the very same thing about 48's for years now.

Yeah i have my eye on the Jack and Sally Wacky Wobbler proto's from Gemini, but i don't know if i can justify spending $150 for each, when the original set of both figures cost around $27

Yeah that's a good plan, i agree that the price is high. I'll hang around and keep an eye out, if i loose them, i loose them but i'd rather get them for a lower price and not feel stupid at paying that amount for a proto.

Re: How much would you pay for a white proto?
I've paid $200 for a single white proto
If it is something you have to have, buy it. You never know if/when/how much another will come along. If it is something you want, but don't have to have, wait.
You have to remember there are only 1-4 white protos, and 3-6 color protos of each piece. So depending on the piece/sculpt/character it may be very difficult if not nearly impossible to get that proto in the future.

Re: How much would you pay for a white proto?
Agreed - it you want it and have the $$ - buy it. I hesitated on buying a green Oogie proto. When I finally decided to go for it - it was gone (but to a very good home). Been kicking myself ever since. But if you don't really really must have it, by all means take the chance that the price will come down and that nobody else buys it before you do.
$150 is not totally unreasonable, although at $85 I'd buy every wobbler proto I could get my hands on. About a year ago, it seemd like I couldn't get a wobbler proto for less than $185.
Good luck ether way, Sarah.

Try emailing Steve at Gemini. Maybe make him an offer for the set. If they are listed at 150 each maybe offer 250 for the pair. The worst that happens is he says no but maybe he will accept it???

Mike was notorious for walking up and handing you something and then just disappear. i remember at Sparkeys I had the Glow Count and wanted Super Freddy. Next thing you know he opens his white lab coat and asks me "did you get this one?" I replied "uh. No I didnt" next thing you know it was in my hands. Very fond memories.

Re: How much would you pay for a white proto?
$150 for a "new" proto is pretty much average. You can wait and see if it will drop. If they don't sell after awhile Gemeni will usually drop them anywhere from $85-125. It's a rusk though. Others might be waiting for the same pieces to drop in price, or another collector(s) might be willing to pay $150 o be sure they ave the piece in their collection.
You really can't compare a production piece which has at lest 3000 made to a proto, where there are only 3-10 total made.

What Will said. I've bought a couple for $150 +shipping because I really wanted them and didnt want to risk missing out on them.
