I would really appreciate it.

There is no pre-buy for fundays items...the pre-buy is for the items that are showcased at the Funko booth at comic con.

No pre-buy are for the ones that have tickets to SDCC but I could be wrong. I'm not even sure Brian is going to offer a Pre-buy, I still waiting.

I really hope there are mixtures of 48's pops for the BOF this year. Not as fun when everyone gets the same thing. You cant do any trading. But if there are a variety Brian would have to come up with a new box style. Those old wobbler ones wont fit pops in them.

Agree 100% I'd bet we see new BOF boxes this year as well - IIrc, Brian intended to do that last year, but it didn't work out.

Comic Con & Fun Days UPDATE

Postby cliffd64 » Mon May 21, 2012 3:22 pm

Kinda hoping they ARE all the same... trading is overrated unless you have extra BOFs... You obviously have to buy multiples upon multiples to have extra BOF pieces to trade... I'd rather it be like last year. It was just as fun, and rest assured... NO ONE went home without extra stuff aside from the BOF... There was plenty to go around!

Bear in mind... as popularity of Funko increases, and more and more collectors join the scene, the meaning of rare changes... A few years ago, even a 1 of 48 was not considered as ultra rare because there were only slightly more active collectors than numbers produced... With all the new collectors in the past 24 months... a 480 edition piece might actually seem like its rare these days.

My preference has always been the color variants, that way even if you don't have "all" of them, you still have a sampling of each product. Like when there were 4x48 alien Freddys, one per BOF. But very often Brian mixes it up by having one larger edition in every BOF along with rarer pieces split among the boxes.

Yes I think stormtrooper and star trek one came in every box. Then you got a stark or maybe even a chase in random boxes. It was fun trading to complete the sets. Plus it is exciting opening the box when you dont know what is inside.

Comic Con & Fun Days UPDATE

Postby cliffd64 » Tue May 22, 2012 1:37 pm

Two years ago, the mode of operations was to have three random Freddies in each box of fun... Yes, there was a lot of trading going on, but the flippers had a field day on the completists, especially with the chase versions of the Freddies.

It had been the same the year prior, and the flippers were well prepared in 2010. One well known flipper actually had hired young ladies to attend Funday to gather stock for him. (We met them in line before the doors opened!) None of these items were traded with collectors obviously... they continue to be offered at ridiculously high prices 2 years later.

Last year, with everyone getting the same three Pop Freddies, the flippers did not have any advantage over any of the attendees, and the only things they could possibly offer to those in attendance was any of the other items (protos, rare items etc) that they won while at Fundays. Totally leveled the playing field. Between the Platinum Card giveaways, and BOFs and booth items, and rare chase pieces of all of those, there was a huge bounty of Freddies to be had by all.

So... careful you don't put all the power back in the hands of those who will take advantage of your wallet.

Hi Guys...just want to say hi to all you guys on here. Been reading for a while but finally decided to join. Im Chris and I own a comic shop in NJ. We have been carrying the pops since the beginning...slowly we have built it up and have a steady customer base that are just thirsting for more pops. They love it. We attend all the cons and get the exclusives to bring back for our customers. They are very excited as to what is in store this SDCC and so are we. Hope to be a part of the community and to meet some of you at SDCC this year. Chris
