It don't mean a thing if it ain't got a spring. Come inside and chat about Funko Wacky Wobblers (bobble heads, for the less sophisticated).

Crooked Wobblers

Postby mrbeankc » Thu Apr 12, 2012 4:55 pm

I was wondering if anyone knows of a simple way to straighten a Wobblers head? My Poe has a serious crook in his neck that makes him look more funky than Funko. He's the only Wobbler I've gotten so far where the head is off by any major amount. I was thinking of stuffing a bit of Styrofoam peanut under the side of his head to prop it up straight for a while and see if that might get him on a more even keel.

On another note. My wife just sent me a text message that came with a picture. It's of her desk at work and sitting on it were four Wobblers. Three were Wizard of Oz (she's been an avid Oz fan since she was a kid) and the fourth was Darth Vader. In her text she goes "Not sure why but the Dorothy has a different base than the other two". Looks like I either have my first chase Wobbler or my first two chase Wobblers.

The reason this is hysterical is she's been rolling her eyes at the sudden appearance of bobbleheads on the shelf that runs around the edge of my home office here and yet it was she who bought me my first (Abe Lincoln) and now she's getting Wizard of Oz which obviously are for her. lol

She doesn't mention what the base colors are. I sent her a text back asking which ones had yellow and which ones have green bases but no reply.

You might try carefully taking the head off the spring, and see if the spring is bent.

The plastic inner case was broken so I think his head in the case was tilted over.

Dorothy's base is green. She's the chase.

Crooked heads on wobblers have irked me for years, and I have yet to find a perfect solution for fixing them. Occasionally what has worked for me is to take a small screw driver and try to re-align the spring coil with the grooves on the neck stem by gently trying to move them to a new place. Then I clean up the blood from where the screw driver has sliced a hunk of my skin off.

I've also had some luck by carefully turning the head and the spring (again with the help of a small screw drives to help turn the screw - this sometimes works if the head is too high on the neck). Again, then I clean up the blood.

If all else fails, I donate the wobbler to local charity (non-bloodied ones), then buy a replacement wobbler. If I take the spring with the head attached off of the neck stem, I can rarely get it back on - but that's just me, I suppose.

The problem seems to be that when the spring assembly is glued to the inside of the head by the fine and dedicated Chinese workers, it sometimes is not centered. NO RICE FOR YOU!!!!!

A few years back, this was more widespread. Some believe a crooked head on a wobbler makes it look curious, or cute. Not me.

Congrats on your new chase!!!!

Well Poe has a small piece of packing peanut under his head so he has his head on straight now. I'll leave it there a week or so and see how that works.

I think with the human Wobblers a slight tilt to the head is ok but ones like the robots Gort and Robby they need to be as straight as possible or they will look very odd. At least the ones my wife got today are good and straight.

Nobody's perfect, not even a wobbler.
Except, of course, for the Chuck Norris wobbler. :D

I had one that was crooked, I very carefully bent it the other way little bits at a time till it was straight. Be careful though, a crooked Wobbler is not as bad as a broken Wobbler. :-)

Fear of spiders is aracnaphobia, fear of tight spaces is chlaustraphobia, fear of the Chuck Norris Wobbler is called logic

Good news. After just 24 hours my styrofoam peanut technique for straitening Edgar Allen Poe seems to be working. I took the peanut out and his head is definitely a touch better. The raven on his arm is making it easier because I have it wedged in between the bird and his chin so this may be harder to do with other bobbleheads but at least in this case I suspect in a few days Poe will be right as rain.

Good job! I'll have to remember this for any of my wobblers with a weird tilt.

Here's Poe undergoing his attitude adjustment. Looks a little sinister in the lighting.
