Marvel POP! Figures coming! (so says Brian)

Postby 60schild » Mon Sep 27, 2010 1:21 pm

Here's a bit of good news...

In another thread I started in the wobbler section (asking a question about Marvel bobbleheads), Brian from Funko was nice enough to not only answer my Wobbler question but also offer the tidbit that there would be some "cool Marvel pop! figures" coming (no word which ones or how many but hey!).

Let the speculation begin.... [-o<

What do YOU guys think Wave 1 of Marvel Pop! figures should be??

I'm guessing Iron Man, Captain America, Spiderman, Wolverine and Hulk.

Agreed and depending on the timing of the new Movie, I'd definitely add Thor as well. (Of course, I'd like them to follow it up with Spidey, the Fantastic Four and others.. LOL)

Hulk, FF4, werewolf by night, Dracula (tomb of), I think the marvel monsters should be made someday as well.

I know one that is coming for sure :) Outside of him... I dunno. Probably the usual suspects, would love to see a wolverine.

Just as I was leaving Con, I said my Good Byes to Brian and he let me know that Ironman POP was coming for sure!

It will be interesting WHICH armor it will have... the most modern from Iron Man 2 or maybe the iconic Comic Book (silver age) version.

Silver Age PLEASE... we need this with the death of the retro wobbler line. I would also like a curve ball of the stealth armour which was short lived in comics.. but super sexy ;-)

Yeah, my feelings too (like that would be difficult to guess, right! LOL! lol ) Actually, keeping fingers crossed that all of Marvel line will be the "classic" iconic versions (Kirby, Romita, etc...)

I just hope that in BOTH the DC and Marvel that we don't only get a half dozen heroes and a couple of villains. Depending on the licensing costs, this could be better than minimates for variety or much much more disappointing if ending prematurely... Imagine classic X-Men or The Inhumans or Armor Wars ... (I'll be happy if we get Avengers and FF!)

You sir are speaking my language!

From what I`ve heard.... the POP line is an absolute hit with retailers. So hopefully the consumer public feels the same and we see the line go long and healthy!

Thing has the potential to be the best POP EVER!

If the action figure fans can view it as successor to minimates or mighty muggs, I agree it could be a big hit (though some might gripe about 1 point of articulation, hah). We need to add our support on the various action figure boards to fuel the fire... Glad to hear that the retailers are supposedly looking very positive on it.

Sounds like we're exactly in synch on these!

And which version / outfit would you prefer?? Classic Kirby? Bearded? Maybe the new JMS chainmail in the current books (since it's a good bet we'll get a WW or a FF based on the upcoming movie version at least).

I'll go with the classic along with a horned helmeted Loki (Odin would be nice too but I think that would be pushing our luck...)

Now THAT's what I call a list!!

I'd agree with 99% of them and would add to your list, such silver age favorites as

Ant-Man/Giant Man
Quicksilver
Scarlet Witch
Yellowjacket
Ultron
The Watcher (already has the big head!)
Original X-Men (Beast, Angel, Cyclops, Iceman, Jean Grey
Magneto, Xavier

Sheesh, as long as we don't get a wave anchored by Paste Pot Pete and Irving Forbush, I'd be happy. :roflmao: :roflmao:

Make Mine ... Funko!
