I think there has been a running joke that she is a better character than any of the ongoing Disney ones for the past 10 years.

Showing my age - I knew of Mara Jade first from the video game Star Wars: Masters of Teräs Käsi that was on PS1

It's really cool to see a deep cut character like Mara Jade get the pop treatment. It's refreshing to see new characters get their first pops. I really hope this does well enough that Funko continues to release more pops like these.

What fans were hoping for when new movies were announced. But then the EU was killed off but we still hoped. So at least we get this

I don't think that is a joke. Some of the new characters in the latest trilogy aren't widely accepted or liked. A few are great, a few are ok, and then there are ones that some OG SW fans don't really care for. I think it was more the story and how they were introduced that caused SW fans to turn their backs on the latest trilogy. Give us some new characters, on the big screen new, and stick to the SW lure, I promise you'll get the traction you're looking for. I guess only time will tell and we'll see what Filoni does moving forward.
