Are autographs on pops worth it?

Postby geekygent78 » Tue Feb 10, 2026 9:15 pm

Everyone has an item they want one or many of their favorite celebs to sign. And companies are aware of this, which is why they've introduced a system for people to make payments.

Celebs have been increasing their prices for autographs, especially for pops. They upcharge an additional $20 if you hand them a pop. With prices increasing, at some point do people say "Nah I'm good."

Or do you get your item signed regardless. Take Mark Hamill. His pre-sale autograph went live today with Official Pix and he sold out in 15 minutes. Now, the price he charged is similar to the image below but online charges more. Limited amount of character name and quotes were offered, up to six words I believe. Someone posted they spent $2,700! This includes the auto, character name, quote, and I believe it was more than one item.

Do you do it or pass. I chose to do it because he is SW royalty and you never know. I didn't want to have any regret.

I'm interested in hearing what the rest of the group thinks though. What do you think?

Worth is a pretty subjective thing right? At this price point, to me it is not worth it. And I would LOVE a Mark Hamill signed Pop. I will say that in 2016 I was in line at NYCC to get a pop signed by Carrie Fisher but decided I didn't want to wait hours and I'd just catch her the next opportunity I got, which of course was now impossible. Much regret.

But who knows what prices will be a few years from now or if the person you want the signature from will even be around anymore.

Yes and no, this is more a thing about signatures than Pops, and you really need to evaluate how much you like a celleb/idol sign in your collection to make it worth, money cant buy happines or fullnes, thats on you

I think it's in the eye of the beholder but I personally rather have a picture autographed compared to a pop. :freddy3:

I wouldn’t pay that much tbh but it’s cool to get an autograph from a celeb
I love my Conan pops from SDCC with his autograph, was cool when he signed everyone’s after the show
Thread of vaulted pops I’m selling, 1200 piece Chaos, SDCC Gus GiTD, SDCC Freddy’s ride, SDCC Whis and 9 other pops.

Idk about 2700 for an auto pop but SDCC 2024 I got lucky to get in line for yuri lowenthal and what should've been $90 ended up being $120. I went ahead with it to get my sasuke signed since he's rarely come to San Diego and he only had a small window for signing

Those are insane prices but I wouldn't judge someone if they are a fan. I paid a good share combined in getting autos on my pops.
Now I'm more focused in getting autos from JVAs...

Some celebrities overcharge and it makes me think twice.

I love getting pops signed. But yeah it reaches a point where I don't get it done if the upcharge is too much. And I do my best to get them done myself - or at least from somewhere I can be confident it is legit. That's a whole other discussion though.

Depends on who want to get your pops signed by and how much your willing to spend on the autograph. Only autograph I got is Fluffy.

For me, it just depends on how I feel about it at the time. I should explain that I actually manage a local convention so I have lots of opportunities through that. If it's a pop I already own or a new release, I am more likly to do it but if it's one that I have to spend $50 on just to get the pop and then also buy the autograph, then I am probably skipping it. I have some I truly treasure and others that were fun to get but don't mean as much to me. I had a show in January and most of our celebs charged $10 more for pops (or any personal items) but were also almost all under $100 anyhow because of the market. It was a must to get my Wash pop signed by Alan Tudyk because I have such a love for him and that character. I got the 4 main peeps from Arrow to sign theirs because I got them all for cheap and they were going to be there and generally reasonable but if I didn't have the easy access, I would have skipped it.

I like it but under the right circumstances. Speaking of Mark Hamill, thank goodness I got his autograph when it was under $200 still. Wow, his new prices are insane!

It depends on whether you really want their autograph or not and what you want it on. Personally, I always choose something that is limited or hard to find to get signed. If you choose something that is just sporadic you might regret it later (I had a Stan Lee/Kevin Smith DVD signed the first time I met Stan Lee - felt like I wasted money; rather have chosen something significant or sentimental to me).

I not a fan of paying for a signature. As for getting pops signed only if it's a pop of a real.person like Stan Lee or a sports athlete. Would also consider creator or artist such as Jim Lee signature on a pop based on his art. Not a fan of signature from voice actors.

I don't think I'd personally wait in line, but I look online here and there what's available. If something has a good figure and a good signature (not like the stunt double of an actor who was a minor character) then we talking

Some of these autograph prices are INSANE! I get Mark Hamill will be pricier but autos have really gone up exponentially.
I remember when we could go to cons and get several autos. Now I need to really think which ones I need because there are extra charges for every little thing.

Due to the higher prices for signing Pops, I typically no longer go out of my way to buy one specifically for signing. Instead, I’ll find something I already have to get signed like a game cover or book. But if I already have a Pop for someone I’d really like to meet, then I’ll most likely get it signed if the price is reasonable.

Yeah I’ve started shifting towards posters because the premium on pop signing is not worth it if I’m getting multiple signed.

Both. I went to Las Vegas when he did promotion for a collectible store for Rokimoto. I got him to sign Mapache figure. It was cool. I tried couple years ago when he was at Frank and Sons to promote his Dodger Stadium show. I skipped the first Wednesday due to lot of people which I heard he stayed last to sign everyone that waited for him to sign their item. So I decided to go the second and final Wednesday appearance but dropped out when he was not going to sign any item. Just pose a picture and a given a sign photo and a baseball.

I forgot I also got Mike’s autograph at Las Vegas too. I was lucky to get the Mike and Brian 2-pack sign. Now I just need to get Brian’s signature on the two pack to complete the set.

At 2008 sdcc I managed to get an exclusive Bleach poster from a panel that Tite Kubo appeared. It would cool if he appeared at this years sdcc and I can get his autograph.

Depends on the collector. If you’re willing to pay the celeb’s price to sign your funko then it’s worth it. Most I’ve payed for an auto was a Japanese voice actor for Nico Robin from One Piece. While it was a lot to me, it www still worth it.

It all depends on the person. I got Mark Hamill's auto on a Luke Skywalker box with the proto inside. He was confused and asked why the pop was all brown lol To me it was worth it as it's probably the only one I'll get of him.

I have my Conan O'Brien signed pop from when we were able to catch the show at SDCC. I'll cherish it forever because of the memory attached. So if the auto and the pop mean something to you, then yes, signed pops are awesome

Definitely autographs on pops are worth it!, I personally have all my personal signatures of athletes and celebs on a funko pop I am not a fan of pictures signed, cards signed, posters or even a ball signed. Funko pop signed is the only way.

I think autographs on Pops are worth it if you love the character and/or celebrity. I have several autographed Pops and I love them. They are definitely worth the money that was spent on them.

I think it's worth it. If you really love the series/character then go for it. It gives it a little special touch to the otherwise vast collection of figures.
