the value of the older early series?

Postby FrannyFunatic » Thu May 30, 2024 11:24 pm

will these be more valuable like the early pops? i think one of my favorites is the iron maiden freddy. not the lowest count, but such a nice design.

I love Iron Maiden Freddy too.

I am not sure about value of the early Pops. A lot of the earlier ones had higher piece counts and don’t seem to be holding much value. If you are collecting for value, you might want to play the long game here.

Lik normal I think it will depend on the line and how many are actually in the hands of ppl. Some of the Grails & Royality Set pops are anywhere from 100 to 500 less than the original LE number

Just comes down to the pop popularity and how much people willing to spend

As everything, I think older stuff will hold decent value but not skyrocket by any means because of the niche genre that each one of them are

In my opinion all NFT pops are pretty short printed, I think it’s kind of hard to tell what will be valuable because that’s contingent on Availability versus Demand, id imagine the more popular licenses will be more valuable but you can never tell. I’ve seen smaller licenses bulldoze their way to the top of the totem pole with regular commons after vaulting so really is no telling as popularity is kind of a day to day, week to week thing.

To be fair I think we're in a buyers market right now and everything is significantly down compared to normal. It should all balance out eventually

I want to try a drop once without buying packs and see what I can get by piecing it together. I feel like it's cheaper. I watched a guy rip 30 premiums to get 8 redeemables

I remember chasing the Dark Knight set, ended up opening 15 premium and 35 standard and ended up with very little. The chase is what gets most people because they see a random person have crazy luck and get a grail and legendary out of one pack

Join the facebook groups or discords, just be careful when purchasing and look for peoples previous transactions or history to see their reputation absolutely find killer deals there. We now just rip 2-4 premiums to try and pull some redeemables but end up purchasing second market for significantly cheaper than buying 10-20 packs

I've noticed it's a 5yr gap. You really need to wait 5yrs on average to see older pops finally rise but it's truly a hit or miss on all

Patience yes but I truly believe you need to know the product and production.
________
Know the series is it popular OR is it a nitched series that would have a core following>know the character >know the variant/form/pose if it's unique to the character>know if is important in the show

Than
Know exclusively>who's the retailer or is it con>is it limited> is it a popular character, less popular characters means less likely they reproduce them and etc and so on

All that and yet it's not guaranteed but you have higher odds. That's why I like to say collect what you like and what you know and bet from those

I don't know if people who aren't part of the NFT community know about the NFT pops to be honest. Like if you collected Iron Maiden, how would even know there was a Freddy pop like this, outside of searching the Funko app or stumbling across it being for sale on the secondary market? If we ever solved linking the IP to people who collect but don't know anything about NFTs and aren't watching those updates, then the values would probably increase at people sought to stay complete for certain lines.

If there is supporting demand (which there should be), it's inevitable that the older, more in-demand items will rise in value.

I think some ppl in the NFT community know and even a few stream about on Twitch, nowhere near the majority know and/or discuss Funko but it is growing.
On the other hand, I personally like the current size the Funko NFT community, kinda feels like Funko back in 2011/2012

They know ppl want the older stuff so funko just keep reproducing. They can't help themselves they want that easy cash grab it makes sense but sometimes they have to hold off, for the health of collecting. Some pops just need to never come back. They have to know this

Agree with this, the earlier NFT drops came out when the popularity of Funko was pretty mature, so don't see much room for them growing, especially with the known production quantities of the original releases.

I think at the time, NFTs were also pretty popular upon first release and I think more people had disposable income. Nowadays people seem to be more price sensitive, which I think is also factoring into the collectibility and market value for some.

So, I was curious about the first 10 drops and how the Freddy Royalty's were holding up in price. These are the prices on PPG as of today June 6, 2024. The ones that are surprising to me are Popeye and Captain Cutler... I thought they would be higher in price.

Freddy Funko (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) - $340
Freddy Funko (Iron Maiden) - $230
Freddy Funko as Vampire - $195
Freddy Funko as Captain Kirk - $120
Freddy Funko as Rob Ross - $70.00
Freddy Funko as Popeye (NFT Royalty) - $85
Freddy Funko (Slimed) - $190
Freddy Funko as Bumblebee - $180
Freddy Funko as Captain Cutler - $145
Freddy Funko as Batman - $150

I think we are on drop 58 with Batman being 59 … I could be wrong. This includes FP S1, Big Boy, and I believe the promos that happened early on… I could be wrong.

I’m not sure about that… for instance the Harry Potter Freddy Royalty will probably be a $$$ once in hand and will only go up.

There are also grails that have skyrocketed: Fire Nation Aang, Azreal, Zombie Samuri Freddy Funko….

I’m not sure about that… for instance the Harry Potter Freddy Royalty will probably be a $$$ once in hand and will only go up.

There are also grails that have skyrocketed: Fire Nation Aang, Azreal, Zombie Samuri Freddy Funko….

Ive seen samurai freddy slowly go down in price, was at a high of 550 at one point now in the 350s

Right now I think samurai zombie Freddy is $380… the prices will continue to change because they will go up and down depending on what people will pay for them.
