I just completed the fully Scooby set for Royalty. That took longer, and cost more (!!!) than I had anticipated. Some uncommon/rare were really expensive so had to do what I could.

I am so torn on selling some of my Epic Dupes from the Nick set to get the two I'm missing from Scooby.....maybe I'll happen upon some wax a different way....

Out of curiosity, why wouldn't you sell the dupes?

I would eventually, just wanted to wait until closer to redemption for more of a spike....market fluctuations and all that

I was wondering if that might be the case. I basically buy/sell at once so I don't forget. Of course, that didn't help me with redeeming my TMNT on time.

I am going to be 100% honest. I don't really get the concept of NFTs and they seem super frustrating. Like I just want to hold my collectibles and look at them and show them to other people. If that even makes sense. I was super tempted to try the Scooby one today because I collect the Scoobys and I love that super one, but if I understand correctly, it's a random NFT you get and the one to trade in for the pop is like a chase, just has to be the luck of the draw and I don't have money to waste on a luck of the draw when I feel like I get nothing if I am not lucky. I am not complaining. I think there are people that love these. I just think I might be too old to get it. LOL

Personally I am only in it for the redeemables... I know that is not how everyone is,but for me I collect enough things to not need to add a digital collection. Also crypto is super intimidating to me and my husband basically had to walk me through setting up a good way to buy wax.

I am not a huge gambler by nature (outside buying a few sodas to try for a chase) and it's a totally new arena. There are a lot of people who aren't funko collectors buying and selling these which adds a whole other element. I don't think it's necessarily an age thing, just more of risk vs reward and people who tend to lean a bit less optimistic like myself are hesitant. I'm jumping in on this one and I'm hoping I don't get burned.

That makes sense. It's funny cause I often accused of being an eternal optimist, and yet I think I am pessimistic about this. LOL I am pretty good at taking risks so I am not sure if this is a money thing for me or if it's just that I have been burned enough to be gun-shy. In the end, I opted to try but never made it out of the "line". LOL

Yeah the queue on this one was full, other drops have been easier. Star trek you could pretty much check out, get back in line and checkout again. Scooby was always gonna be tough, but the added hype of having the TMNT in hand did not help

If I did my math right I think you’d have to unpack about 60 cards (4 premium packs) to get a Legendary and about 375 cards (25 premium packs) to get a Grail. So if you somehow buy 25 packs at retail, you’d spend $750 for 1 Grail, 6 Legendaries, and a good start on 2-3 Royalties.

That is if you can buy that many during a drop! With Scooby the packs went very fast.

Based on the previous drops, the next drop won't happen for 6 weeks and will probably be a "lesser" or smaller set, something that they know won't draw a huge crowd so people can take a break from spending a fortune and then 2 weeks after will be a big announcement.

Some people will hoard until last minute for the Epics since you NEED those to finish the sets & usually less available, so people will pay top dollar closer to redemption; I only needed one to complete one of my sets & I paid almost double what it was originally since it was the only one I needed or I’d miss out on redeemable Pop!
