Just out of the topic.... How did the Conan distribution work last year? Was it still you have to get to the show to get one?

So in 2016, they did a organized giveaway at the Grand Hyatt. You got i line and then at some point there will be like six people with bags full of tickets and you pull one out. The color determines if you get one or not. You can cycle through the line until they run out. Last year, they would just announce on social media or show up at random places and it was somewhat of a mob scene to get them.

For this year, it is unknown whether they go back to 2016 model or not.

Did they hand out all the Conan Pop versions on the street or just the Mono Conan? I thought you had to go to his show to get the others. Hopefully they do a random draw at a hotel again this year.

Only the mono was on the streets, and not all of them because they were mobbed (the rest went back to the studio). The others were at other various events.

I had the same thought about it possibly being his last year. The show is supposed to be going to a half hour format next year, so I'm not sure how that'll work next year

When and where did that happen? I know that the pops were given out randomly around San Diego... but never heard of an online lottery for the pops. I liked the 2016 way... the lines were crazy, but controlled and process was smooth.

The street giveaways for the mono Conan was crazy. Whenever it was announced there were groups of people running around trying to figure out where they were giving them out. I saw a group of guys jump in an Uber only to go right around the corner and still be too late. Lol

I second this comment. Last year was a big baby stroller trampling mess. Not to mention the daily ones being distributed over Fooji lead to a lot of cheating and misinformation being passed around. Say what you will about random distribution being more fun and spontaneous, 9 of out of 10 times I completely agree. However, at SDCC with crowds that big, I think giveaways require rules, control and most of all, good solid information and plans being provided beforehand. Everything else seems to invite chaos.

No badge required; first day line was super short people got through 2-3 times with pops if you had luck. next day was a madhouse; and only got worse as the news got out.

Since the half hour thing won't start til 2019, I think it's safe that we're getting one show per day.

I waited several hours for distribution on days 2-4. The line will start at the Hyatt and go all the way through Seaport Village and down through the Embarcadero park. The only advantage is there are plenty of water Pokemon if you play PoGo.

They had this funky system using Fooji where they delivered pops to you as well. It was not implemented well though. I wish they would go back to the 2016 method. The line was very efficient after the doors opened.
