We went to Wal-Mart today (NW Austin area). No special display, but I did pickup the only Parzival exclusive on the shelves.

I’m so stoked for the movie on Friday! I picked up clear Parzival from Hot Topic yesterday. I love the clear pops.

Ahh awesome, I'll have to look for a replay of that. I love the info they give out in those panels about their experiences with making the movie. I watched the SDCC one last year in person and it was awesome....

Going to an advanced screening of the film tonight. I loved the book, and the Pops turned out amazingly! These are ones you have to take out of the box to truly appreciate.

After all the hype at Wondercon I am seriously thinking about reading the book, but my son has already received his Iron Giant.

Some of the variants for these look really cool. I have been resisting starting new lines, but I may have to for this move. I loved the book the first time around and I am really enjoying it a second time too. I know I will find some knit to pick about the movie not living up to the book, but that is neither here nor there.

I've read the book a few times, and just recently saw the trailer. I'm holding off on these pops until I see the movie, there are a lot of differences from the book that have me worried. The panel at WonderCon didn't do anything to reassure me either

I have only seen 4 Ready Player One pops at my local Walmart so I am more leaning toward them not getting their shipments of the pops yet.

From what I understand, the initial shipment of RPO Pops! to Walmart was the pre-packed display. All they had to do was clear out an endcap and attach the cardboard display to the wall. Some appear not to have end cap space for it, so they are just putting the Pops! out as they normally do.

My Walmart never gets good any exclusives except for returns that were damaged. Haven't seen the endcap nor any exclusive or common Ready Player One pops...only time will tell

I hardly ever check out my local Walmart because the selection is mostly Family Guy and Son Of Zorn. Might go check it out later in the week.

Re: Ready Player One Pops!
I got to attend an advanced screening of the film a few days ago, and I absolutely loved it! I was a big fan of the book, and, while quite different, it was still just endless fun from start to finish. I'd be interested to see if there's a second wave; all the major characters were made in their more visually interesting forms, but there's a few variants that could potentially be made, as well as any of the real world characters and some more pop culture characters.

That makes me excited about it. I just ordered my Movie Pass so I will be watching it when it comes in. Do you recommend reading the book beforehand?

Not necessarily. They definitely give you enough to understand the plot in the movie. Though I'd definitely recommend giving the book a try if you haven't. Without giving anything away, there's MANY changes from the book; sort of like how the Jurassic Park movie had the same basic plot as the novel but changed so much. Both are still great, just totally different beasts. The RPO book is chock full of references and is far more intricate and thought provoking than the movie, so it's worth a read, though I wouldn't say it matters whether you do it before or after you see the movie.

From what I've read/seen; the book and film are almost entirely different besides a few character names.

These Pops are really cool! Not cool enough for me to buy them considering my new "only get what you really, really, really love" policy
Now if they make a Ride or two that would be another matter entirely
