Batman '66 Wave 3?

Postby professorratigan » Sun Oct 15, 2017 8:59 am

Hi, all! What do you think the chances are of the Classic Batman TV Series getting a third wave? It took four years in between Wave 1 and 2. Hopefully we'll get more sooner rather than later! There are still PLENTY of characters we need represented in our collections!

Alfred
Image
-The ever-faithful Alfred Pennyworth! Give him a feather-duster and his green apron, and, boom, we're good to go. As big a role as this version of Alfred played on the show--fist-fighting the likes of Penguin and Joker!--he deserves the Pop treatment!

Alfred as Batman
Image
This one's a no-brainer! Alfred dressed up as Batman in several episodes. And the characters always fell for it! Would LOVE to see this one.

Batgirl & Batgirl Cycle
Image
Her Cycle is one of the most iconic aspects of the Series! We need to be able to put it with the Batmobile!

Bookworm
Image
While he only appeared in two episodes, Bookworm is actually one of the Series' BEST villains! And his design would lend itself well to a Pop! If you haven't seen his two-parter, check it out!

Boxing Batman
Boxing Riddler
Image
How about a two-pack? From the episode Ring Around the Riddler, this, for me, is every bit as iconic as Surf's Up, Joker's Under.

Catwoman (Unmasked)
Image
We NEED to get Julie Newmar's incredible and iconic eyebrows on a figure! Plus, she spent more time UNMASKED than MASKED!

Catwoman (Eartha Kitt)
Image
-Obviously.

Catwoman Goon
Image
I think these henchmen have such iconic designs, we need them to put with the Baddies!

Contaminated Cowl Batman
Image
From the Mad Hatter episode of the same name, a cool variant. Just repaint his cowl pink! Easy money, Funko!

Egghead
Image
EGGSellent! This EGGStraordinary villain is just too EGGciting to pass up! Vincent Price and egg-puns! C'mon! (This is actually my most-wanted figure of the line currently, lol)

The Joker-Mobile
Image
Joker's famous Jokermobile would make an awesome Ride!

The Mad Hatter
Image
This guy got four episodes and is all ready one of the most iconic Batman rogues. I always thought the '66 version was the nastiest and most wicked of the Mad Hatters!

Mr. Freeze (Eli Wallach)
[imghttps://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/516tPw0D%2B%2BL.jpg[/img]
UGH. It pains me to see so much Otto Preminger Mr. Freeze merch when Wallach's take is so much more enjoyable! I want THIS Freeze, not the one with the orange eyebrows (Preminger's annoying habit of saying, "WILD!" every sentence really irritates me. It helps to know that Preminger was apparently a major jerk on the set of the show, disliked by the cast). Wallach for the win!

Penguin Goons
Image
Again, ICONIC henchmen. We need one!

The Riddler (John Astin)
Image
John Astin's Riddler. It's a shame Gorshin didn't perform for this two-parter, because, in my opinion, it's actually the best-WRITTEN Riddler story in the show's run. It just has a lackluster Riddler... Nevertheless, Astin IS a part of the show's history and therefore, I think we need an Astin Riddler (holding his question-mark cane!)

TWO-FACE
Image
Even though he's only just about to make his animated debut into the Batman '66 world, I think William Shatner's Two-Face, with his amazing Golden-Age inspired design, would make a FINE Pop and would fit right in with the rest!

Is it possible to get a Batman running around with a bomb? Or one with shark repellent? I'll buy whatever '66 stuff comes out either way.

I'll take any variant of Adam West's Batman! It's funny, usually Funko won't. Stop. Making Batman/Joker variants. But in a line where I actually WANT some, they've only done the Surfing Versions! There are several other Batman looks from the show that are a little more obscure (Batman in a suit of armor from the Penguin/Marsha Queen of Diamonds team-up, Batman in a dinosaur suit...yes, really, from the Egghead episode How to Hatch a Dinosaur) that I thought about including, but opted not to. I'd buy them, though!

YES! This! Pretty iconic scene as well. I would put this toward the top for Series 3.

I'd buy a Wave 3, but I'm pretty happy with what I have in the line so far. I'm more interested in Batman: The Animated Series at this point. Lots of big guns needed in that series still.

Oh, don't get me wrong: I want more B:TAS, too! That line won't be complete, for me, without Penguin, Two-Face, Riddler, Mad Hatter, Killer Croc and the Gray Ghost. Not to mention Ra's al Ghul, Talia, Clock King, Gordon, Alfred, etc...

Why can't we have continuations of both lines? I consider Egghead to be just as necessary a part of my Batman Villain pantheon as any of the above! And Alan Napier's Alfred is, for me, anyway, the best version of that character outside the comics (what other Alfred can boast driving the Batmobile, fist-fighting the Joker and the Penguin and disguising himself as Batman on multiple occasions?). So, I really want him, too! (As well as all the other's above!) And, I feel, with the passing of Mr. West and the new Animated films, more people are conscious of the 60s TV Series than they have been in a great long while. I love what Funko has given us so far (that Riddler Chase is amazing! And the Action Figure line has some great and unexpected choices!), but I'm greedy and want more! lol

I'd buy more, but I'm not the typical collector. I think the main reason we might not see more '66 Batman in Pop form, is that they tackled most of the main characters. I'd love an Egghead (probably my biggest want for this series), but he doesn't have the name recognition of a Joker or Penguin. I think we'll see more of the action figure line before Pops, since they left the main villains for an obvious second wave. (Although I'm wondering if that's still in the works. I haven't seen a big store presence for that series, and it worries me.)

I wouldn't worry about Egghead, considering our last wave had King Tut in it, and he seems to be selling just fine over here.
