Hmm... my B&N order isn't supposed to be here until Thursday
however... it's currently in the UPS hub for my city.
This seems like one of those times where I want to use UPS MyChoice and upgrade for 2.99 or whatever and get it tomorrow... I'm so impatient, but I'm also nearly done with this set!

This is a reason Liz and I got a Barnes and Noble membership. They upgrade your shipping for online orders, no minimum order from what I can tell.

Just saw these for the first time yesterday at 2nd and Charles, so I grabbed two and got Legolas and Saruman! I don't think I'm going to try to complete this line, but I do want to get a few more. I really like the style of these Minis in particular.

I really only want Sauron, Saruman and, especially, the Witch-King. I bought two at Hot Topic (they always mix up the cases) and just guessed based on their weights. Wound up with Gandalf and Gimli. Blah. I really have no interest in anything but the baddies.

Anyone been able to lock down the layout for the B&N cases yet? Just looking for Invisible Frodo and don't want to pick through the Samwise and 1/24 pair.

Re: Lord of the Rings Mystery Minis

I lucked out this morning and found two fresh cases at HT. The sweet spot is the right front corner, top layer. I also pulled Pippin and Gollum, but I already have them. Was hoping for Merry, since he's the last of the fellowship that I need. Now I just need the last two BN exclusives (Gimli and Galadriel), and then Arwen, Eowyn, the ring wraith, Merry and Sauron to complete the set.

if you find a fresh un-mixed case, go for the right front corner, top layer. That's where the HT exclusives are. Luckily my HT just unboxes the case and sets it out without mixing them up. Lurtz is really heavy, but the witch king is surprisingly light.

The normal cases have the rare in the top front left and HT top front right. I don't have enough info for B&N.

I've watched a couple of youtube videos and have seen Sauron and the Nazgul come from the top back left spot in those as well. Haven't seen anyone pull an Arwen yet, though.
I bought 4 minis today from a common case. I did the 4 top layer corners and got Legolas, Saruman, Frodo, and Gollum. I didn't keep track of which came from where, unfortunately. I should've marked the boxes when I pulled them from the case.

Normally the rare is the front left but you're correct sometimes it is the back left. I've found them in both spots. The key spots of a fresh normal case are top front left, top back left, and bottom front right.

Have you compared the layout you got from your two cases to the normal and HT layouts posted on here? Im curious how they match up. Maybe it could help figuring out where exclusives are in the B&N cases.

The chase spot in the BN case moves around between three different spots. I've found Galadriel and Arwen TFL, Nazgul TBL, and Sauron BFR. The spot also seems to move around in the common case. Only the HT case has been predictable.

New here, but I’m in desperate need of the weights for Nazgul and Éowyn. Can anyone with a scale lend me their time?
Super bonus points if you could also tell me the actual weight of these two figures themselves (figure out of box). Thank you, guys!

Didn't get weights on most of mine prior to opening as I wasn't thinking and I needed everything initially. That said I snagged Eowyn from ebay prior to the prices going too crazy.
Nazgul: 46g (figure itself) and 70g in the box I used for testing.
Eowyn: 34g (figure itself) and 58 in the box I used for testing. Now Eowyn gave me trouble, weighted her at least 10 times and it varied 1g sometimes.
Now my scale is just a cheap $10 up to 10lb postal scale from Walmart so may not be as fine as some others, sorry it isn't more specific/accurate.

Your list helped me find Merry a few minutes ago. I have everything except Nazgul, Éowyn, Dark Galadriel, and Pippin. Nazgul is really frustrating me. I just can’t find an exact (or exact enough) weight for him for whatever reason. Makes it really hard.
As far as Éowyn goes, I’m at the mercy of at HT restock.

Damn, thanks. It’s going to be tricky without testing those on a more sensitive scale, I think. I used one similar to yours on my first go, and wound up with about 50/50 in new figs vs dupes. Some of these just weigh so similarly to each other.

For those into weights - here's my numbers (in box).Gollum - 40.2-40.9
Invisible Frodo - 44-45-ish
Pippin/Merry - 46.2 (typically will be three Sam/Frodo/Other, and this is the lightest of the three in the case)
Sam - 46.2-46.7
Frodo - 46.9-47.9
Arwen - 56.3 (slightly less than Legolas/Boromir)
Galadriel GITD - 57.4
Legolas - 57.6-57.9
Boromir - 57.9-58.5
Eowyn - 58.7
Sauron - 58.7
Aragorn - 60.8
Witch King - 65.7
Saruman - 66.2-66.3
Gimli - 72.8-73.3 (gold gimli is same weight)
Gandalf - 76.9-77.3
Lurtz - 77.5 (slightly more than Gandalf)
Thanks for the info, seems like the layout is similar to the normal and HT ones.

All these B&N pulls got me excited enough to try my hand at it! I figure with 6 there's a good chance only half of them will be repeats at the worse case. Ah who knows? :P

Re: Lord of the Rings Mystery Minis
Hello all. I'm new at collecting minis. Actually , these are my wife's but I am helping her. I have helped out by getting a couple of cases and now I'm getting double after double. Only need 2 from HT exclusives and the nazgul from the other. Also a BN galadriel. I am new here but I'm no beginner or stranger when it comes to collecting. I'm a vintage star wars toy collector along with other vintage lines.
My questions are about the rarity. HT stores vrs BN stores speak for themselves. In my area, BN stores are very few and far between. I have only 2 BN stores in a 100 mile radius. There are atleast 10 HT stores within 30 miles. Why are BN exclusives less expensive vrs the HT exclusives ? With all of the HT stores, wouldn't BN minis be the most rare? You can't buy them online from BN but you can from HT.
Very strange. I'm wondering what we will see shortly after the dust settles. I'm seeing prices going down on ebay.
I'm seeing plenty of stock in the stores for the non exclusive cases. HT are the most expensive, and BN hardly has them in stock and only get one case at a time.
One last question. Are these limited? I'm seeing a bunch of different minis out there with multiple cases at a time, while lord of the rings with only 1 case.
Thanks in advance
Kevin
