Re: How do you store your Pop!s?
I came here ready to share that I currently (embarrassingly?) store all my pops stacked between the tops of my bookshelves and my desk...
Reading through the thread, I've picked up some great tips, especially when it comes to having limited space.
Thanks, guys!

That's actually a really good suggestion. I have seen other collectors who use multiple bins and stack them on top of each other say that the "flimsy non-locking lid" bins caused their pops to get squished. This seems like a good solution. Have you tried stacking multiple bins of this version on top of one another?
Yeah! Nothing extremely heavy in them so far. Just still carded toys. In a few bins I have loose amiibo and Disney Infinity figures which make them weigh more and they stack well and are stable with no signs of collapse. So far so good!

I bought some cheap 1 X 6 by 8feet boards some L brackets, cheap paint. Made five shelves up my bedroom wall. I have a couple hundred up there. Cheap walmart shelves in other rooms also. Some stashed in bags and boxes in the closet.

Right now I'm still int eh process of moving so all the pops are place in large boxes and stored in a room. Most of ht epops will be stored in the attic except for the ones I like.

We seal all of the ventilation holes so bugs can't get in and stack them in the garage. For all of our action figure collectibles including Funkos, we have 37 of them. They hold about 100 standard Funkos each, so that's not bad.
I have to admit, I'm super curious, do you plan on displaying them down the road, or never? Just wondering why you'd want to collect something like a Pop that is made to be displayed, and yet don't display them. I absolutely mean no disrespect when I ask this, just to be clear, since you can't see my face as I type this,. Just really wondering what the purpose of your collection is if you don't show them off I guess. I've been collecting for over three years and you are the first person to say they don't display at all.
No, not really. Do you think that people with large art collections have them hanging on the wall? No, they're stored safely. Light kills collectibles, it fades the colors, damages the materials and reduces their quality. So do airborne pollutants. Every second that your Pops sit on a shelf, they are degrading. There is a difference between a collectible and a toy. There is a difference between a collectible and a knick-knack. Stamp collectors put their stamps into protective albums, they don't just stick them to the wall for all to see. Just buying stuff isn't collecting it. The other half of the equation is conservation and preservation.
And nobody I know that seriously collects anything sticks it on a shelf. But hey, everyone is free to do with their collections what they want.

We're currently using something like this, although the exact one on Walmart's website comes back with "we're having some trouble, try again later".

Very sturdy, locking lid, the ones we use have very square corners which means Pops stack very nicely, we can get around 100 Pops per box and we go 5 high in the garage. We seal off all of the air holes so bugs can't get in. These are available in stores, there's another 50 gallon version that's a buck cheaper but isn't as square so we don't buy them.

My gf and I are in box collectors, we have our entire 2nd bedroom dedicated to Funko. We use the 5 shelf bookcases from Wal-Mart. But in the past when I have moved or ran out of room, we used heavy duty bins. That way they don't get damaged.

Re: How do you store your Pop!s?
Thanks for the awesome suggestions everyone! In addition to collecting Pop!s, I am an avid Star Wars toy collector, comic book collector and sports card collector. I get the enthusiasm for wanting to display all your Pop!s, but I am definitely on the side of wanting to keep most of my collection safely packed away. For me, it’s enjoyable enough knowing that I own the item. I don’t feel like I need to show my collection or have it displayed. I suppose I’m also little compulsive about my desire to keep my collection in the nicest possible condition I can.
To each their own. I’ve definitely enjoyed learning about the different kinds of collectors there are out there.

Gotcha, well, everyone is different and I'm sure 90% of the people who collect pops would disagree with you and call them collectibles and I have never seen anyone else that doesn't display any of their collection and most people on this forum are serious collectors. I was just curious though, and tried to lighten the mood and your reply seemed a little snooty. Just our opinions though and we'll have to agree to disagree.

Re: How do you store your Pop!s?
I have a simple rule. When I spend $300 or more on a collectible, it goes behind glass. When I get a plastic bobble head for $8.99, it does not go behind glass. It’s silly (to me) to treat something like this as a high end collectible that will stand the test of time and be passed down to future generations. These are great fun, but I don’t see them as something that needs museum quality protection. I take them out of the box and stick them on a shelf or desk so kids can walk by and flick their heads and watch them bobble. I have other higher end collectibles that need preservation, but I don’t count these among them. They are just for fun and have no value outside of that.

Yeah, watch out or you'll get insulted for not playing with your collection.

I'll go out on a limb here and assume this response was directed at me, which I must say is a little baffling. In my original reply to your post about how you collect, I was honestly very curious about someone who collects Pops and puts them all away. I in no way insulted or tried to insult you and even made it clear my intentions and that I wasn't trying to disrespect you. I even threw in a smiley face to make my comments clear that I wasn't trying to knock you down or be rude about it. I have, in over three never heard of someone who collects them and doesn't display them in some way, so I was genuinely curious. Your response was more or less rude and suggested that people who collect things should never display them and show them off and that putting them on a shelf isn't the correct way to collect. That to me is more insulting than anything I said to you. Not once was there mention of anyone "playing" with their collection, and if you see people putting their pops on a shelf in or out of a box as playing, then I'm quite confused. Also, you assuming the other half of collecting is putting them in a box, hidden away is the right way to do it, well, that is your opinion and not a fact. Pops aren't stamps and they aren't expensive paintings, they are on average a $10 item meant to be displayed on a shelf. I just don't understand why you came across so matter of fact and rude about it, when I was sincerely just trying to ask you why you kept them in a box, hidden away. I absolutely meant no insult or rudeness in my original question, hell, not even my response to your reply to my question, so I'm not really sure why you are taking it so serious.
None the less, I'll apologize if you think I came across that I was insulting you for how you collect, that was not my intention at all. The way you collect is perfect for you, I was just curious and tried to ask you about it in a light hearted manner, which I guess you took the wrong way. Sorry about that.
