Favorite Special Feature on a Pop!

I wanted to throw this question out there about what everyone’s favorite special feature is when it comes to Pops!? We’ve got metallic, glow in the dark, Flocked as the most common.

Personally, I would have to say my favorite feature is metallic. I just love that extra flashiness it gives the piece. My favorite metallic piece I own has to be my Chase Flash.

Would love to hear what everyone else’s favorite is!

Long before Funko, I've always loved glow in the dark stuff! With Funko my love for that continues, so glow it the dark gets my vote.

Glow in the Dark is probably my favorite regular special feature but I like to think about ones that are even more special. Its probably either the die-cast body of the Hulkbuster or the glittery jelly body of the HT Miku Hatsune. Also the gumballs in Benson's head are a neat addition! There is a lot of sweet stuff out there!

Chrome pops always look so incredibly awesome, so definitely chrome.

Oh does invisible count as a special feature? Some invisible pops are pretty cool too.

I was thinking about adding that feature to the list, but it’s not as common. However, the LoTR invisible pops are pretty incredible. Also, I love the half transparent Vision pop from the Age of Ultron series.

I love that Vision! It's a shame the MCC one wasn't like it, too.

I have absolutely nothing against glow in the dark, but unless you are actively trying to see it glow, I find it kind of boring. Flocked unfortunately collect too much dust as an OOBer, so I will go with metallic. My only negative is a lot of pops with armor or metallic weapons don't get the metallic treatment when I feel like they should, and then others that don't make sense DO get metallic. I love it though, nice and shiny. I did notice that Colossus was a lot lighter and didn't feel as sturdy when he got the metallic treatment, so if there is a reason for that, then I'd rather not have metallic if it means a cheaper feeling product.

Flocked as it's usually the only one used properly, I hate non metallic characters that are shiny and characters that have no reason to glow glowing.

I guess it depends on what pop it is. If it's something that has fur, then flocked. If it is metal (BB-8, R2-D2) then Metallic.

Ranked special features in order of preference:

1. Pops molded in glow vinyl
2. Chrome plated Pops
3. Metallic Pops
4. Flocked Pops (most of the time it's hard to tell they are flocked without feeling them)
5. Pops painted with glow paint (they usually don't glow very well)
6. Bobble heads (UGH)

I don't know if this counts, but my favorite is the Mini POP companion; Mini Ant-Man with Unmasked Ant-Man, Tippy Toes with Squirrel Girl, Lockheed with Kitty Pryde and even the little groot on top of Rocket's head from Vol 2 MCC exclusive.

I definitely have more GITD stuff but I think my choice would have to be chrome. Looks very slick and super shiny!

I would have to say my favorite variant piece that I own would have to be the Metallic Compound Hulk.

I love the shiny coating of the paint and it just makes the figure stand out. The Glows and the Flocked are okay but I feel like you have to have a dark room with the pop charged for glow and you have to be up close to tell sometimes that the pop is flocked. This is why I feel that the Metallic pops steal the show for me.

I'm going to go with chrome because I hope to one day see a chrome Silver Surfer. I do like the looks of the Colossus as well.

I like metallic paint, but I especially like it when it's on a pop I wasn't expecting it to be on, it's a pleasant surprise.

Dipper Pines and Frodo but have these nice soft muted colors that must be because of the glow and I actually like the look of them over the regular but again for the most part you are right.

It's hard for me to resist glow in the dark! I haven't had a chance to buy anything scented (unless you count mini Hikari) but I imagine scented would be fun too.

True, some of them do look better with the glow vinyl, for sure. I like Kratos, the newest Freddy Funko and the Adipose compared to it's regular variant.

I love glow in the dark pops, those who have what it takes to really make them glow they look amazing. Flocked is my second favorite, anything fuzzy is food.

I would say metallic but I keep my collection in a lot of direct sunlight and the sun really does a number on the paint job so I'll go with GITD. Because my glow pieces are in a lot of sunlight, I get to enjoy the glow as soon as the sun sets.

In the past year Flocked pops have really grown on me. In the last few months I've gone from maybe 2 to almost 30! (All the amazing new ones like Bob Ross and Lockjaw sure don't help)

Since I mostly collect "dog" pops, I love the ones that are flocked! But I also like some of the glow in the dark ones (like the glow in the dark Zero chase).

I prefer flocked for all things fur/hair, but otherwise metallic is amazing.

Depends on the character, I kind of like them all.
GITD for Horror or someone with an auror
Metallic for armor, like Ironman
Flocked for furred animals, like Eeyore.

I'm a big Flocked fan, but Chrome/Metallic pops are gorgeous too. It really depends on the flocking as some are outstanding (eeyore looks almost plush, some tiggers look like melted skin). The Metallic Green Goblin really stands out on a shelf compared to the common, but the metallic rangers don't seem to pop as much.

I'm waiting for the inevitable mash up, like a Conan with flocked hair, metallic suit, and glow in the dark face

Definitely GITD. There's just something about charging up your pieces with a black light and seeing them all stare back at you!

For me would be translucent, like the night king from this years sdcc. Back when flip phones or old nokias were big before smart phones (yeah I'm old) you try to get the translucent cases. Same goes for pagers (yes kids do you know what a pager is. Lol) instead of plain black you go with the clear, smoke or translucent blue cases.
