I know I may hold the non majority opinion, but most Freddy Pops are technically gifts. While there are some amazing people out there who come back from Fundays and help others, most try to sell them to recoup the cost of the ticket, travel, etc. They are still gifts. I don't see it any different than people selling their toty Freddys. It is also the rule of supply and demand. If there is demand for it, and someone is willing to pay for it, why not sell it? Sometimes they money they get for it goes back into Funko products.

I am keeping mine, even with my opinion :)

It's such a shame some true collectors out there won't be getting the pop due to some flippers out there. Hoping the two you mentioned be part of the lucky few receiving the freddy randomly without the email.

Yeah, I could get behind a trade.....but outright selling? Just not cool in my realm and that person is now in my blacklist. I really hope they do too....both of them have done so much for me, giving me really valuable pops at cost, not a dime of markup. Big hearts who just have the right spirit.

To be honest, I've traded and sold items that I've received from Fundays, which were also "gifts" from Funko. I kept the ones I liked but used the money from the sales of ones that I didn't have interest in to buy Pops that I liked more.

I remember Funko's stance is that they don't care what people do on the secondary market including items that they gift. They know there those out there who will immediately sell these "gifts" for profit, and if they don't care, it's not worth you stressing about either. There will always be flippers in collectibles. It's better to accept that fact and don't let them ruin how you collect or the reasons why Funko is fun for you.

Congrats to everyone who received a TOTY Freddy, the glow on it is really cool from the pictures I've seen!

I definitely get what you're saying about pops from Fundays being seen as a gift. And you're totally right, they are. But to me, I feel like most of those that attended Fundays who sell these gifts didn't attend the event to get free pops and make a profit, but to experience a good time and enjoy the company of other funatics. For this giveaway, it's likely that a good portion of those selling their pops did not intend to get if for their collection but instead looked to make a quick profit. This makes this giveaway different from Fundays because for Fundays, the true purpose is for the experience rather than the pops. For this giveaway, the purpose is for a gift. But you're right, no use stressing over the flippers. :) thank you Funko for your generosity :freddy3:

Got mine today! Thank u so much funko!

Something I haven't seen before, shipping box was minty fresh, like it never was handled by ups and USPS. Then Funko pop box is kind of beat up. Usually I see damage on the outside too. Not a complaint in any way, still happy to have my free gift which Funko had no obligation to do. What a great company, so generous to fans!

Speaking of supply and demand, I don't understand why people were paying so much for an LE 5000. That's a lot. And now that everyone's receiving their figures, the market is going to flood.

I hope it does. Next week will be when I attempt to strike on ebay for this guy. Hope he doesn't go for too much, got my first 1/400 freddys at fundays and I see they don't go for outrageous prices.

The difference between this and Pops from Fundays is you bought a ticket for Fundays, travelled to SD, got a hotel room, ect. If you ended up with something you didn't care for for don't collect, ok see if you can make back some of the Fundays cost. This, people knew what they were getting, it was absoutely free and incurred no cost whatsoever and was a Thank You gift. To fill out the form for one and immediately try to sell it to someone who actually clearly deserved it more than you? Shameless. I will judge. If you did that, you suck. Bad show of spirit and community and I hope karma gets you.

Yeah, saw someone in one of my facebook groups announce that they got one and then immediately did an interest post to see who wanted to buy it for inflated prices. It's just bottom feeder behavior. They most likely didn't even vote to begin with.

I concur. Especially since people who didn't vote submitted the form and then they ended up getting rewarded.

I think I will be more patient. I need one for my collection but not going to pay these crazy prices. What gets me is these people that actually say I didn't vote but got one and one fool actually told me I could have it for $180.00 Paypal F&F. I was not one of the lucky ones. I voted but missed the Funatics sign ups so signed up with general public but no email for me. So no I'm not paying $180.00 for it. I will get one but when the price comes down. I'm not bashing those that didn't vote and won that's great. But to rub it in and actually say I didn't vote but got one. That's what I have a problem with. So last time I'm commenting on this thread Congrats to all that did or didn't vote and got this awesome Freddy. But please don't rub salt in the wound and tell people you didn't vote. Not necessary :freddy3:

1) The difference between 2000 and 5000 is a lot in terms of exclusives.
2) Qui-Gon is a bad comparison, because he's a key character in a Star Wars collection in a fandom known for having completists, while this is just another Freddy variant.
3) The people in the market for Freddys mostly already belong to the Funatics and/or would have signed up for the lottery.

There's no reason for these to be selling more than LE425 Freddys other than people being impatient or shill bidding.

First there are completest for Freddy as well, second I already stated qui gon jinn was low but number doesn't always matter I have a 1000 Marcus but it only goes 60-80 because its demand that matters as I already stated. Third its going for that price because of people paying those price I saw one sell for 190 then one sell for 150 and its going lower but don't always count on it staying there. And just because they signed up for lottery it doesn't mean they won. Lastly this Freddy could also be a key Freddy for Freddy collectors because there are Freddy collectors trust me, so technically its not that bad to compare it to qui ton jinn or any other high limited number piece for that matter.

We could go back and forth all day but the easiest answer is he's a unique Freddy that's was only obtained through a contest and flippers set the price and people are wiling to pay those prices so he will float around those prices for awhile, probably drop if enough are put up or maybe stay the same or rise a little if more people hold on to him then there are people who want him.

Re: Free Holographic Freddy Pop for people who voted Funko at the TOTY Awards

Postby x56735x » Sun Sep 17, 2017 8:08 pm

I was fortunate to get one after not remembering if i took the survey or not since it was a while back. I am beyond thankful I was able to get one. My gf wasn't as fortunate but it's ok because I'm sharing this with her as it represents all the good stuff Funko tries to do for their fans. They didn't have to do anything but the fact they did was great.

I do feel kinda bad because there were many more deserving funatics out there that now have to resort to places like ebay where people do not appreciate the brand, only the dollar signs attached to it. I do hope that everyone that missed out will get one sooner or later at a much reasonable way/cost.

Amen!! As a seller/flipper, you can ask whatever you want for something, but if no one buys it, the price must come down unless you want to be stuck with it. It's almost impossible to expect everyone to resist the flippers, but if it can be done, the buyers have complete control.

I wasn't saying just flipper set the price for future reference this was taken out of context heres the whole sentence: "flippers set the price and people are wiling to pay those prices so he will float around those prices for awhile". So what I was saying is if flippers set a price and if people pay that price it will stay around that price for awhile.

Thank you, thank you Funko!

Great job charging the heck out of that glow and that shot, well done. Love the reflective surface. Pat yourself on the back, I'd think you are a Director of Photography. I'm going to say it, Super bad-a$$! =D>

Aww, thank you for your kind words! :-)

Speaking of supply and demand, I don't understand why people were paying so much for an LE 5000. That's a lot. And now that everyone's receiving their figures, the market is going to flood.

Its because its a very "wanted" pop. Look at qui gon jinn, yes he's lower, but 2000 is still a decent amount and he shot up because of demand. And to be honest this Freddy might go up in price even higher after it drops because even though there's 5000 a lot was shipped worldwide and second once the flippers are done a lot of people will hold on to theirs because its a gift from funko that could not be purchased so you won't see a lot on eBay after that. All I know is mines going to be sitting next to my funklub certificate. :freddy3:

1) The difference between 2000 and 5000 is a lot in terms of exclusives.
2) Qui-Gon is a bad comparison, because he's a key character in a Star Wars collection in a fandom known for having completists, while this is just another Freddy variant.
3) The people in the market for Freddys mostly already belong to the Funatics and/or would have signed up for the lottery.

There's no reason for these to be selling more than LE425 Freddys other than people being impatient or shill bidding.

I agree that Qui Gon wasn't the best example, but it is undeniable that demand is important. Take Otto (from Spatik Plastik) the LE 3000 version goes for about $25 and both the LE 480 versions go for about $40. Then take the LE 3000 Tony the Tiger. It goes for $125 and the Tony was more available to the public because it was online and not just at the POP Up Shop.
