So how did your SDCC Pop Hunting Go?

Postby Riddler3 » Mon Jul 24, 2017 1:58 am

With SDCC weekend coming to a close. How did your hunt go? Did you complete your wish list? What's left?

My hunt was pretty good, first time I hunted in a store(and only 1). If all my orders and pre orders come in I have hit the essentials. Still keeping an eye out for things like Glow Jolly, Mr. Toad, and Glow Baxter as is most everyone else. Have to say Glow Baxter was the biggest shocker for me this weekend.
Life is full of questions isn't it? Though, naturally I prefer to think of them as Riddles.

If an IYO SKY funko/proto shows hit me up ASAP!

Only thing I missed out on was the gitd baxter, I was so close in line Friday for one too need tinkles still. but I'd have to say I got 98% of what I really wanted so this year was really good for me.

I was lucky enough to order Tinkles, but I have seen some have had that cancelled. Mine says it's on delay and awaiting dispatch so I keep my fingers crossed.
Did the glow baxter just have limited stock or did they get bought out early?

I was able to successfully get what both my dad and I were looking for due to lining up early enough and running around. (I literally ran around a mall because I was dropped off at a store that was closed instead of the main entrance. I wanted to make sure I had a good spot at GameStop so I could guarantee I would get what I was looking for) Got a flocked Tigger for myself and the Leia 2-pack for my dad.

I also had some friends that picked up some stuff for me (you know who you are, and thanks a bunch again!) from SDCC and the only thing I'm pretty sure they were able to grab for me was masked Ochaco. Not sure what else they managed to grab for me though, but we'll find out soon enough.

On paper, got almost everything I wanted. The question is if all of my online orders actually come through. Preorders for megazord, night king, and chrome Batman specifically. I always get nervous when I use new sites or international ones, and it was both for chrome and night king :(

I got Snoke, The Lorax, Negatron, and Catdog on Thursday. Only major disappointments were not getting Tigger, Tick or Man-Bat due to limited stock. But I had a great weekend so I can't complain.

Yes I feel your concern with oversees pre orders and sites. I'm confident with Forbidden Planet, but I'm just crossing fingers about Blue Batman, Lincoln and Night King from a site I've only ordered from once. If those don't come in this whole weekend is a whole different story. lol

So far so good. The main exclusive I wanted was the Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy Ren & Stimpy 2-Pack and luckily, I happened to be up when it went live online. My orders for BoxLunch and Hot Topic both shipped out in the last 24 hours without incident.

Hope everybody else here did well.

Managed to get everything I wanted and didn't have to leave the couch.

Nabbed Bugs/Sam Dorbz pack as soon as they went up on Hot Topic.
Happened to be online when FYE went live with theirs and decided to pick up the Betty and Wilma Rock Candy
And waited it out for four days on the Funko Shop to get She-Ra

All in all, I'm super happy with how my SDCC hunt turned out and extra super thankful to be living in the online shopping era.

I somehow had an amazing streak of luck this year and managed to get orders in for all the shared exclusives I wanted and even the few booth exclusives I was after thanks to some awesome pals. Even came out of Fundays with most everything I was stoked about. Only things left on my want list are 2 of the Fundays Freddy Dorbz (not the 1/24) and the GoT Dorbz 2-pack which should be relatively easy if I wait for ebay prices to drop. Hope everyone else had the same luck!

I'm coming home with waaaay more than I expected and got most of wants. Was not able to hit the funko shop because I wasn't about to spend 2 days in line for that. That shows how far funko has blown up. Also missing the Blue metallic Batman which sold out ONE person in front of me. Besides that got pretty much everything else. SDCC was a complete success imo the only bad part is my body is completely wasted. Good thing I took one extra day off from work lol

I camped 2 days for Conan shows just to miss out the first day and received the cancellation news on the second day, totally missed out on Mono Conan. Luckily, I was able to buy decent number of pops from the Pop Up shop. The line for a Funko booth raffle is a mess and I will probable never ever try it again. Anyway, it was an okay SDCC to me and I learned a lot of new things since this is my first time owning a badge for SDCC.

Funko-Shop was terrible. Walmart handled Baxter poorly. But other than that, I was able to get all the shared stuff I wanted! My time in stores was rough due to there being a flipper who tripped me over (it was on purpose, too.) and by the time I got up Scare Glow was gone, so I had to go to another store. Looking around EBay for the stuff in my sig as we speak, as there are always diamonds in the rough.

I had a pretty great SDCC. Not being there madebit bear impossible to get a Mr. Toad and GITD Jolly Roger without paying high prices (which I'm still holding out for a good deal on either), but getting Sike O Shriner off the shop was 100% the highlight of my week. He'll go great with my Sike Wobbler!

Eh, about average. I got the main ones I wanted since they were all in stores(Dean and baby, Luna, Occamy and Clara), but I missed out on everything I wanted that was online(Sike, Baxter, Daffy, Hei Hei) so I'm about even.

I don't buy pops that are overly priced either, so I'll just sit back and accept what I'll never own, like with the 12th Doctor in the space suit, haha.

Got both the night walker and white walker Conan happy with that. Gitd Baxter was impossible to get, nickelodeon booth sucked they need to figure out a better procedure for there booth. Went Funko only once, had fri 12 missed out on chrome batman, tigger and jolly rogers and few more. seemed like you had to get the 930 time for a chance at everything.

The Night King was from the Game of Thrones experience right? How was that? How long was that wait? I've heard some people say it took up to 10 hours in line?

I missed a few of the pop-up shop ones I wanted that were in the Funko Shop, but nothing I can't live without. I'm hoping the HBO Store gets the Night King and the Brienne/Tormund 2-pack back in stock. Otherwise I got all of the shared exclusives I wanted, and a couple of the pop-up shop ones I was hoping for.

Got myself a Negascott. Missed all the Pop-up Shop/Toy Tokyo stuff I was after that wasn't shared so I'm not too upset as it was never realistic to get those in the UK.

Hoping for a better chance from the NYCC stuff.

Overall I'd say it was really good! I avoided most of the online shopping nightmare (slept straight through the HT and Barnes fiascos), and did most of my shopping in stores. B&N was a success (Tigger, Scare Glow, LOTR two pack, Lorax) although I had to hit up two locations, Gamestop was great (mostly due to my fave location being awesome - Leia/R2 two pack, Negatron, Tony, Catdog), and was able to order 2 out of 3 from funkoshop.com (She-ra and Skeletor). Also ordered Heihei and Snoke from Amazon (supposed to be arriving today!!!), Bucky and She Hulk from Walgreens, and SW Trooper from Walmart. Picked up the Chip and Dale flocked two pack in store.

Missed out on Stupor Daffy on funkoshop.com, and don't really have a way to get Mr. Toad near retail. I refuse to pay flippers. Held back on a couple of wants (like the Aladdin dorbz ridez, Manbat, Joker Batman, WW two pack dorbz) because of how much I'd already spent.

I wish I could say mine went well, but I missed out on quite a bit that I wanted. I missed out on many of my most wanted items - Tigger, the Tick, Scareglow, Blue Scooby, Pink Marvin, Ren and Stimpy, and Daffy. I'm hoping I can find a Lincoln as Reaper for a decent price. I'm hoping Bruce Wayne shows up in-stores on Friday and that my Tinkles doesn't get cancelled. I was able to find a Bruce Wayne, but the box was destroyed.

I did pick up a Tony Stark, Batman Joker, Leia/R2-D2, Negatron, The Mountain, Masked Elliot, Mr. Clarke, Occamy, and Baby with Dean though.

Got pretty much everything I wanted. Was able to pick up D.Va, Snoke, Luna, Steve from Stranger Things, Mr. Clarke from Stranger Things, and Catdog all at retail. Got Harry Potter from a reseller but at a decent price. Also miraculously managed to get the Scooby Doo shirt that I really wanted when it went up online. Didn't think I had a shot in hell at that one.

Also picked up the Leia 2 pack but I might use it later to trade or sell. It was a bit of an impulse buy. I could have bought Dean with Baby from HT the night it came out and decided not to and am sort of regretting that. Otherwise I think I did pretty well! Looking forward to all of them arriving in the mail this week. Snoke and D.Va have already arrived and look great with my Start Wars and Overwatch displays.

I was nervous I wouldn't get anything at the funko shop line Friday, it was about 45 minutes after it opened I was far back in line but they had so much left. I really was like I need jolly and Mr. Toad, they gave me the sheet with pictures it was over I just made one giant circle. Haha

Got the Nigh King, which was what I wanted and the GOT Conan was given away too at the GOT experience. Boy was the crazy, we were in line from 7:15am until we got in at 5:30, but the experience was fun and we got our awesome POP. I hear the funko pop up was insane....

I also bought the Nightwing POP for my son and another booth.

I was able to order these online - Snoke, Hei Hei, Bodhi, Interplanetary Batman, Blue Scooby, Magenta Marvin, Chip & Dale. I also ordered Tinkles later on, but who knows what's going on with that.
Waited in line for about an hour Thursday morning at Barnes & Noble and got the Tick and Tigger. Went to the GameStop next door and got Negaduck and Princess Leia/R2D2. Went to Hot Topic after that, and got Luna, Coon, and Nega Scott.
During the weekend, I got the Ramona Rock Candy and Skeletor Dorbz from the Funko shop, and somewhere along the way, I bought the Roxy and Scott Pilgrim w/Sword off of eBay.

Managed to get everything I wanted (chrome Batman, mainly) and help a few people as well, BUT...I did want to hit up the Pop Up Shop as well and the possibility of me doing do and still maintaining my personal sanity seemed very low so I stayed away...people lining up days in advance? I got all the store shared exclusives I wanted. I still need Mr. Toad, I bought a jolly roger on ebay for way too much. Then I missed the shirts on funko shop.

This was definitely the most difficult SDCC I have done since ive been collecting.
