Marvel POP! Updates Thread 2018 (Updated July 20th)

The fact that DC wasn't split up makes me even more convinced that there won't be another Marvel wave, but I hope I'm wrong. The only way it would make sense is if there was a wave dedicated to only GotG stuff. I would be extraordinarily shocked if we got more outside of GotG, and still somewhat shocked if we got GotG. I'm still waiting for Yondu to be announced in some way. Likely a store exclusive at this point, if he happens at all.

There's no way they are only putting out 5 Marvel items vs 11 DC items. They haven't even put out any Marvel Dorbz so there has to be other things coming.

There's no way they are only putting out 5 Marvel items vs 11 DC items. They haven't even put out any Marvel Dorbz so there has to be other things coming.

I think it's entirely possible. They might be splitting exclusives up between SDCC and D23. Again, I would love to be wrong. There are so many Marvel characters that I'm dying to see in Pop form.

It doesn't make sense for any Ragnarok pops to be SDCC if theres no announcements of general release Ragnarok pops.

Again, we know that some of the themes are split. What properties at SDCC warrant splitting besides Star Wars and Marvel?

Yep. The Doctor Strange Pops were announced in August after the con. Thor is coming out the same weekend that Doctor Strange did last year.

Plus there hasn't been a formal announcement, but we all know MCU Pops are pretty much guaranteed at this point. Getting a Ragnarok exclusive for SDCC seems like a definite yes.

If we're speculating about more Marvel SDCC pops, I wonder if they'll do anything for any of their Netflix shows, is it too early for Defenders exclusives?

Wait, that actually reminds me...Killgrave has popped back up in GameStop's system as an exclusive. I'm 95% sure he'll be announced as a shared SDCC exclusive eventually. I mean, we do still have about 14 more waves to go haha.

I'm glad they cleared that up. I had a hard time believing they would split Marvel up in multiple waves. I'm sure we'll see a few at D23. That has to be the reason why Marvel got the short end of the stick at SDCC.

And D23 is now 4 weeks away. Hopefully some information will start coming out and booth procedures...

Just because Funko has stopped announcing SDCC Exclusives doesn't mean other companies can't. In the past there have been a few SDCC Exclusives that were exclusive to a different company, and were released at the convention. I know they have also done this at NYCC. When I went to SDCC in 2015 I remember Toy Tokyo had a flocked Wolfman exclusive that was exclusive to Toy Tokyo for SDCC.

He's probably being saved for a second wave after the movie releases for that very reason; I don't think a lot of people know he's in it.

it was originally delayed, i don't think a reason was ever given.. but it has shown back up again a preorderable with gamestop
