McScruffy wrote:wraithkelso wrote:So on Thursday the Target I went to wouldn't sell Qui Gon to me but guaranteed it would be held through end of day today for me. But unfortunately apparently it got sold out from under me on Saturday against the instructions of the manager. And by the time I found out that it happened every other store was already sold out. Super upset with how Target handled this release
That happened to me as well. I went to a Target that wasn't my local one while out hunting on Thursday. The employee grabbed them from the back, took one out of the case. put my name an # on a sticky note and placed on the pop and locked it in a cabinet in the electronics section.
I saw the tweet on Friday night 2 minutes before Target closed that they lifted street date. Decided to go to my local one at 8 AM on Saturday and was able to purchase one of the 6 Qui Gon's. Decided to go to the store that was holding the one for Monday so I can help a fellow funatic. They looked everywhere but could not locate my hold. The manager came over and stated that they do not do holds on collectibles. I asked him if his employees knew this rule since "John" was very helpful and locked one up for me. He stated they knew this (obviously he didn't) and said next time try to show up early to get it. I told him that was the plan but since Target corporate couldn't get their act together it screwed many people over. He didn't seem to care so I just left. Sorry I couldn't help anyone. I tried a store this AM and even went to one on Lunch that was showing 4 with no luck.
In my case it was the manager that had put it on hold and some employee sold it while it was on hold

How can Toys R Us STILL be selling Thrawn on their website, but Target can't sell the qui gon? Isn't target BIGGER then TRU? Therfore have more then TRU?

Your theory is based on sound rationale and an assumption that target knows what it's doing when it comes to these things.
I think my work here is done.

Brickseek said my Target had 1 and I went in right at 8am, and sure enough, behind the counter, there was 1. And it was in mint condition. Another Target about 20 minutes away showed they had 3 but since I just got back from Celebration late last night, I didn't have the energy to drive there and check.

Re: Star Wars Celebration Orlando Predictions
My Rey with Speeder was delivered by FedEx today. She arrived in good shape. The box Walmart used was barely big enough to fit the Pop box in, though. I didn't have the easiest time getting it out. Luckily it didn't hurt any. One problem it does have though is the top flap won't close completely, but it works good enough. Just sticks up a little. The flap was open when it arrived. There's also a small crease on one part of it. Walmart also slapped a sticker on the top window, but it doesn't bother me enough to bother removing it. Otherwise it's in near mint condition, so I am very happy with it. No dings on any of the corners, which can be such a big problem with shipping these types of items. It's such an amazing looking collectible. I like how Funko included a background image of Jakku. It's instantly my favorite piece in my Funko collection.

I was able to order a Rey earlier after refreshing for days. Hopefully it doesn't cancel my order like some have experienced.

so regarding Target, anyone else hoping they never get convention exclusives again? Because IMHO they royally messed up on the release of both ECCC Buff Rick and Summer, and SWCO Qui Gon Jinn.

Re: Star Wars Celebration Orlando Predictions
I managed to pick up Thrawn and Chopper. They looks so cool together. The colours really complement each other. And it's kind of nice that Chopper doesn't include his 'arms', which makes it more than just a re-paint.
I also bought Rey with Speeder - but after getting her home and opening it up, I decided not to keep it. I bought it because it was really cool and different, but I don't collect live action characters because I collect action figures for those. I though it would be nice as a one-off, but it really did feel out of place on my shelf.
So I popped it on eBay for retail price. I felt bad for depriving a local collector, but hopefully it is going to a good home.

Ahhhhhh! You have an entire board of collectors here with many of us still trying desperately to find her for less than $65.

Unfortunately I'm in Australia, so postage of a package that size would probably have cost even more than $65US. The retail price was $60AU to start with.

Ha true, that does change things. Not directing any frustrations at you. This whole experience has been disappointing when the only place I can find a Deluxe Rey now is on eBay at 2x-3x.

I came early to a store yesterday morning hoping for Qui Gon -- there were five people ahead of me (store only had 5 to sell). I should have asked what they were waiting for. I ended up leaving empty handed.

Did very well in the Star Wars exclusives. Though I was going to be out Qui Gon since they pulled the 17th sell on Saturday, but fortunately my parents are visiting my brother in PA and found a couple at his Target.
