Funko Fave Five: Disney Edition

Postby FunkoJoeSuper » Sun Mar 19, 2017 9:19 am

Hi fellow Funatics! Based on a conversation some of us had in another thread, I had an idea to post a weekly thread chronicling everyone's top 5 favorite Pops in a certain category. I thought it would be fun for everyone who wishes to participate to post a photo of their favorite 5 from each week's category as another opportunity to see nice pieces from other people's collections.

The rules are simple:

1. Follow the theme
2. Only pick 5 pops (no honorable mentions, no ties... just 5. That's what makes it fun.)
3. Feel free to post 5 separate photos of each pop or simply one photo of all 5 together (no specific order necessary)
4. You must own the pop (no stock images of wish list pieces)
5. Be kind! This is strictly for fun and favorites are simply based on opinions.

The next theme is Pop! Disney.

Here are my top 5 favorite Disney Pops in my collection:

Image

How could I not choose Mayor? Reversible head... obvious choice. Metallic Genie is just fantastic... classic character with a beautifully designed Pop. Pinocchio was one of my favorite Disney movies growing up... family friendly yet dark (gypsy kid napping, pleasure island - creepy). Chernabog is probably the scariest Disney villain and an amazing Pop. Hatbox Ghost is nostalgic for me. I remember going to Disney World as a kid and the Haunted Mansion was my favorite ride. "The ghosts will follow you home!"

Let's see your Disney Fave Five!

Love the idea and the Pinocchio and Genie Pops! Wish I had gotten in the collecting game earlier so I could've snatched them up :)
You can call me Danielle :)

Harry Potter, Disney, and POP's/Dorbz from my favorite movies/tv shows are my weakness!

Absolutely! One of my favorite pops in any line.

Unfortunately, I didn't collect before those 2 were vaulted so I had to buy them on the secondary market, but they are definitely 2 of my favorites.

1. Jafar. This was the guy who got me into POPS. Before they made Jafar, I was on the fence about collecting. After they made him, I knew I was doomed. He's one of my favorite childhood characters and the POP is really well done. Love the details on him, from his turban, to his beard, to his Cobra Staff. He was only my second POP, and I own two of him.
2. Scar. Really like the character, really like the POP. Like Jafar, I had to have more than one.
3. Dumbo. It's adorable!
4. Sir Hiss. Mostly because I'm just amazed Funko actually made him! He's not the most well-known character, but he's always been a favorite of mine.
5. Jessica Rabbit. Love the character, love the design.

If I owned Prince John, he'd be on the list. Sadly, I don't have him. He's become my most-coveted POP, due to my predilection for Disney Villains. :(

My Disney top 5

Image

Wreck it Ralph is my favorite Disney movie so they fill my top 5, if I had Ralph it would of been all WiR top 5 lol. In absence of Ralph I had to do Mickey, he is so iconic I love him, the sorcerer's apprentice and steamboat willie are on my mid price range grail list I hope we get more mickey variants along the way.

Ive been loving these top 5 posts

There are very few Disney Pops I want, so I won't have anything to show here. I do have Stitch 626, and was a week late on getting Genie, which I'll kick myself forever since I wanted him, waited and then Robin Williams died and his price went well above what I was willing to pay.

1. Flocked Pooh. I actually really love all of the new WtP pops, but the flocking on pooh was icing on the cake.
2. This Dumbo was a gift to me. I have an obsession with elephants, so it just makes it better.
3. Rapunzel in general I think had one of the best sculpt to date.
4. TT Prince John I just recently purchased as a tax return splurge. I didn't realize how cool it was until I got it in person.
5. Wall-E was my first pop ever. Plus my fave movie. Lots of sentimental value to me.

I am determined to actually take a photo this time, but in the interim, my top 5 are:

- Seated Winnie the Pooh - So excited that they made a new version. I started collecting far too late to get the original. I just hope they re-make Tigger. And then make a Rabbit and Kanga and Owl and...

- Beast with cape and birds - Such a hefty figure for a regular pop. Looks amazing next to Belle.

- Dancing Belle - Similar to Winnie, I was so excited that they made a new version of the yellow dress Belle. It looks stunning; and to be honest, a lot better than the original.

- Rex - So cute! And a hefty pop. I like ones that have a bit of weight to them.

- Seated Stitch - No particular reason other than it's so adorable.

My honourable mention is Regina from Once Upon A Time - but that was part of the TV line, so I won't include it in my list here.

My top 5 Disney:

1. Chase Flocked Remy - My favorite Disney/Pixar movie and Remy doesn't get any merchandise and his POP finally got made. The flocked variant is just appropriate :).
2. 9" Sulley & Boo - Just a more accurate representation of Sulley next to Boo. 9" POPs are cool. and who doesn't love the two?
3. Dug with Cone - Just awesome way to capture one of the funniest/cutest parts of the film.
4. Judge Doom - Again another favorite Disney film of mine that just doesn't get a lot of love, and a character especially that does not get a lot of merchandising. I love the attention to detail and adding the shoe from the dip scene.
5. Dinoco Lightning McQueen - This is probably my weirdest selection because to be honest. I don't love the Cars films. However, I love this variant, a well done POP and variant with the color change AND decals.

Honorable Mentions: Ray Gun Stitch because 4 arm stitch doesn't get a lot of love, and Russell from Up because he's my Poppelganger.

Ahh, here's the one line I'm tragically behind on. Some of my favorite characters (Mr. Incredible, Captain Hook, and literally anybody from Aladdin) were all vaulted about a year after I started collecting. Still, the Pops I do have are some of my favorites.

Image

5. Roger Rabbit: Honestly, Who Framed Roger Rabbit is at least in my top 10 favorite movies of all time. It's nothing short of a perfect film, and despite how insanely popular it was back in the late-80s and early-90s, it's almost impossible to find decent merch of the guy lately. The Pop itself isn't perfect, but I love the character and his movie far too much to dismiss him from this list!

4. 25th Anniversary Woody: The 25th Anniversary Toy Story Pops really blew me out of the water, especially compared to the original molds. Woody, especially, stands out with his taller, lankier form and the tiny little details on his belt, boots, and vest.

3. Rapunzel with Frying Pan: I'm not typically a guy who absolutely NEEDS con exclusives. I've passed on plenty simply due to the fact that they're either way too hard to find or way too expensive to buy. However, with my next two Pops, hunting them down was an absolute necessity. The Rapunzel Pop is one of my favorite Pops of all time; I love how the designers used her hair as a base. So brilliant. But the common was stuck holding a paint brush, which is...fine...but Rapunzel holding her trademark makeshift weapon makes so much more sense to me.

2. Cursed Barbossa: I wrote an entire post on my blog about why I love this Pop in particular. Check it out!

1. I'm purposefully leaving this space blank for Hatbox Ghost. I have no clue when I'll get him, but when I do, I'll come back and edit this post appropriately, so help me.

My top five that I own:

Goofy kingdom hearts common - as a disney fanatic and annual passholder, I love the hidden mickey on his shield. He is also my favorite disney character
Goofy kingdom hearts gamestop exclusive - I will always love anything goofy the most for disney
Donald Duck kingdom hearts common - I love donald and the hidden mickey on this one as well
Winnie the Pooh flocked hot topic pop where he is sitting down with his hand in the honey jar
Indy Ride that is a parks exclusive - I have been going to disneyland since I was a kid. I love the detail and the ride. It is one of my favorite if not my favorite ride at the park.

I will try and get a picture of all of them. It is hard because other then my office, rest of my collection is in storage. Living at the parents house right now to save money for my own home, so I don't have my own space for them outside my office.

How do we post pictures?

Figured I would join in on the fun!

From Left to Right in no particular order:

1. Blue Eeyore Barnes & Noble Exclusive-I just adore the different coloring and love how he fits with the rest of the new line.

2. Roo- He's adorable! Plus I always have a soft spot for this little guy!

3. Peter Pan- He is one of my favorite Disney characters ever and since I got here very late in the Funko game I did have to shell out some big bucks for him but he's truly my only true holy grail piece that I had to have because of how my I adore his character and the memories I have from my childhood.

4. Dancing Rapunzel-My favorite princess! It was hard to choose between her and the original since I have both but I love the design of her hair here with the flowers and everything it's so beautiful. That and I brought her to Disney with me the other day to pose with Rapunzel and she complimented her hair :)

5. Buzz Lightyear-I just love the look of his helmet and how detailed his suit is and the arch of his eyebrows!

Love seeing everyone else's Top 5s! Keep it up everyone.
You can call me Danielle :)

Harry Potter, Disney, and POP's/Dorbz from my favorite movies/tv shows are my weakness!

The chase Remy is already out? I haven't even seen the regular set in stores yet. I'll have to keep an eye out I guess.

- Just re-read top. lol I thought we just talking Disney in general. Although I already made my pre-order so maybe that counts.

Oh, gotcha! I thought I missed the release. Haha.

I finally picked! lol It took some time even though I don't have as many Disney Pops as I'd like. Now if we could just get those new villain Pops (and if I could get some of the Princes and a new Peter Pan too.)

I assume muppets are included.

Snowths- one of my first pop vinyls. Had to hunt down two. I love how unique and colorful they are.

Oswald- still not enough merch for oswald. Was so happy when the epic mickey pops came out.

Scrump & stitch- love the designs and colors. Might change when I get the 3 pack of stitch scrump and angel.

Hot topic malificent- love the lips, and I love how it looks when she glows.

Just got Marshmallow and day of the dead jack and sally are nice but couldn't choose a favorite. Sorcerers mickey and disappearing cheshire are some other favorite s, and I'm looking forward to the villians and getting the kingdom hearts ones. So this list wasn't too easy, but made me think about how few disney pops I have.
