POP! Monsters (Funko Original Line)

During the signing I briefly spoke with Shanna Duncan, one of the Funko Artists. One of the five cards she had was an original character of her design, so naturally I chose that one. I will try to post a photo of it when I get home. It is on my Instagram account though (paisleyandpoise) for anyone who wants to see it. I forgot to ask the name though

but it is AMAZING!! I can't wait for this line.

Pretty excited for this!! I love digging into Funko history and the Spastik Plastik characters are awesome. I'm excited to see what Funko is gonna surprise us with!! :freddy2:

My Pop!s are all sentimental purchases, from great childhood memories. Not really interested in new made-up ones. Obviously that won't stop others from getting into them, though.

That is an awesome pop design, I hope the line is filled with great designs like this.

Although I'd be happy with the Funko-fied Monsters line, I'd like to see something else other than a vampire, werewolf, or Frankenstein.

Are you kidding??? These are the artists whose designs we buy ravenously every day. OF COURSE we are going to get some awesome stuff!! Some of these folks design their own characters on their own time anyway. The creativity runs wild in artist brains. I am so glad to see Funko expanding into their own originals again. I think that really says something about where they are as a company and where their heart truly lies.

I have to admit this isn't at all what I was expecting, when I heard "Funko originals" I was thinking something along the lines of the Spastiks, like crazy hot rod monsters with blood shot eyes and such. I'm disappointed, but I will say this is pretty darned cute and I would definitely buy it.

Keep in mind this is only one artist. She will have her own ideas, and the classic originals like Carlos were designed by some of the more vetted Funko artists, which are still around. We have yet to see their work! Each artist will have their own flavor.

No problem! Yeah that's a good point. I do like her design though, it reminds me of the Labyrinth and Dark Crystal characters and I had to have all of those so I would definitely be down for this! Maybe we'll get some retro hot rod figures too though :-)

I feel like he could just be put in a collection with Monsters Inc. characters and they would totally blend. You could just say - yeah, don't you remember him from the movie and could probably trick like 95% of people lol

Heh. I'm dead serious. I have my own characters, original characters as I call them, whose bios I wrote. Now I just need to find an artist, then save up enough to create my own studio.
