Re: Horror Series 3 Mystery Minis?
This is an interesting lineup.
Thematically it fits between Series 1 & 2, as 1 was very serious horror and 2 was lighter.
I'm looking forward to adding these to my collection. I think they missed an opportunity to do something different by choosing something from The Ring/Grudge style horror films. It would have added some diversity. Also, with so many choices, didn't need repeat offenders in the form of Jason/Freddy. I'd rather more Gremlins :P
Only one I'm unhappy with is Twisty...*shudders* not a fan of clowns in any form.

I'm so excited about that figure as well as the twins from The Shining, personally, but they're all incredible looking~
Someone else said it, but I agree entirely - Samara from The Ring or Kayako Saeki from The Grudge would be pretty cool figures!

Yeah the more I think about it, the choices were pretty good when you consider the themes of the last two series. There are a lot of choices made that I'd consider musts for a line dedicated to Horror Classics (any of the Universal monsters, The Shining, Jaws, The Excorcist, American Psycho, Elvira).
I think I'm just frustrated about the inclusion of Jason and Freddy over others, especially knowing that they could have chosen better versions of the characters. Probably something to do with the license, like how Chucky in Series 1 was from the Childs Play 2 license (being restricted to a certain movie). I agree with the Grudge/Ring choice! If this sells as well as Series 2 did, then I bet we'll get that in Series 4 (fingers crossed)! Considering how Series 2 was released about a year ago, then Series 4 might be a year or two away.

I actually agree with your post, but the fact that you put American Psycho in as a "horror classic" kinda bums me out

I don't know... I was not a fan of series 1. Series 2 was a HUGE step in the right direction and I completed the set (protos too). This set, to me at least, feels...rushed. There are several I'll chase down but overall, I feel like this set is a step backward. Jason and Freddy were definitely not need again (yet).

I think the problem is that most horror movies don't license out so your overall selection is limited on who to choose from so they have to stretch the "horror" I'm surprised they didn't put in any RHPS

I'm surprised that there's been so much King stuff licensed out, as they're usually pretty tight with that stuff.
Also, Freddy and Jason will more than likely be a staple in these. They're horror icons, and can anchor any line quite nicely.

Re: Horror Series 3 Mystery Minis?
This set is probably my favorite overall, but the last two were both solid to me. There will always be a couple I couldn't care less about, but if they added a Freddy every time, I'd be happy, considering he's my favorite. The wife gets these, but I'll be buying a bunch for her as soon as they come out!

I'm curious if anyone can remember there being a 14-figure set before. What kind of ratio would that be? Perfect world I guess would be 10 of the 1/12s and four 1/24s but I don't see it being that easy.

That would be great!
What about 11 with 1/12 and 3 with 1/36? I think that is what Five Nights did. Either way, I'd love if there were no 1/72 rarities or 1/6.

Re: Horror Series 3 Mystery Minis?
This series looks okay. Not as exciting as 1 was, or even 2. I'd echo the complaint about more Freddy and Jason figures. Along with numerous figures all having an ax. There's just so many other choices to do before repeats or similar figures. I don't really consider A Clockwork Orange horror either. I'm not sold on Jaws. Elvira is cool, maybe we'll get a Vincent Price at some point. I'll throw in the Crypt Keeper as someone I'd like to see eventually, along with the Ring/Grudge characters others mentioned. Regardless, I'll still be getting these.
I tried to quit, then Fallout 4 minis happened.

Interesting that they've done it like that before. Definitely sounds more ideal than the hunt for the previous series. And ditto on the 1/72 or 1/6.

I've been wondering about there only being 14 figures shown too. There is usually 15 (not counting exclusives) for a set like this. Maybe theres a 1:6 in there somewhere? Maybe a black and white or a GITD variant not shown? I've also considered the possibility that the twins from The Shining might be two separate figures that aren't glued/attached at the hands...maybe when you get both you can display them like they're shown in the picture?? Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum were two separate figures in the Through the Looking Glass set...that's why this possibility came to mind.

Hey there everyone - first post
Series 2 turned me on to these and great to see more BeetleJuice characters and was hoping for an Elvira!
I agree that another Freddy and Jason isn't ideal. Like has been mentioned, a Vincent Price would have been way cool and was hoping for a Carrie as that movie really spooked me as a kid. It could have had a special Pigs Blood chase version too.
At least this time, I won't be trying to find any odd boxes left over on the shelves like I have been (and raiding eBay when I've been feeling flush!)

I could see that. I think the reason I figured this was the full base set was because it's the actual glam rather than being concept art or something from the catalog. But I haven't been collecting these for long enough to have seen a release cycle, so I'm just guessing obviously. And I reeeally hope they don't split the twins up. It seems odd they would do that when they look so exactly the same. At least Dee and Dum were looking in different directions.

I need that blood splattered Patrick Bateman.... O.O
They are all pretty awesome, I will not regret buying a whole case.
Thought the Mummy was the old guy off phantasm (that zombie demon orb series where the old dude (tall man) hunts that boy down?)
Would be neat if they made the dismembered hand from "house" into a mini, also children of the corn, the blob, etc...

I could see them maybe following the formula they used on The Walking Dead series 4. It was a 15 figure set, one of which was a variant of another figure (masked Morgan). The ratios broke down like this:
10 - 1/12
2 - 1/24
3 - 1/36
My case had the following breakdown:
9 - 1/12
1 - 1/24
2 - 1/36
So, take the 14 we know so far and add in a variant, like glow in the dark Slimer or something, and we could have a similar situation. It was nice not having any 1/72's to hunt down and/or over-pay for on ebay.

Speaking of "House", well "House 2", I would love to see a Gramps POP! and/or Mini.

Oh yes great ideas! I really want the Tall Man from Phantasm, like really bad. The Blob would be neat, especially if they made it like a character was being swallowed up by it.
My full list of "really want" are:
Tall Man (holding the orb of course!)
Sadako Yamamura (maybe crawling out of the television?)
The Thing (any form)
R.J. MacReady (with flamethrower?)
Herbert West (holding a syringe)
Candyman
Dracula (Universal, surprised they haven't made him yet)
Norman Bates (also surprised they haven't done him yet either)
Audrey II
Chrsistine
Dr. Caligari
If they made most, or at least a few of these, then I'll be pumped. Jaws was my biggest want before, so very happy they made the shark.
Dracula though is the only one I see showing up potentially as a Series 3 retail exclusive.

Audrey II -- I love that idea!!! I would want multiples for my desk, bookshelves, etc. Yay for carnivorous plants!
Just a small town girl...
