I want to start getting a Marvel collection. I have GotG, but they're not my favorite Marvel characters. I just ordered Nick Fury, Helmet-less Loki from Thor 2, and a Metallic Unmasked Captain America from Amazon. I'm going to start by trying to get the whole Avengers team. I love the metallic pops, so I'm hoping I'll be able to find all of the Avengers in a metallic variant.

I started with Carnage, Anti Venom GITD, MCC Ant Man, MCC Hulkbuster and Winter Soldier Unmasked.

Wow, well that's a collection that could send you to the poor house in short order lol My advice is not to fall in love with the high dollar variants. My personal take on Pop prices is that they are GREATLY inflated right now. A year ago when I started collecting people were complaining about paying 3 figures for older HTF Pops, now some of those are going for 4 figures. I think there's a bubble right now and that it will burst and those prices will drop like Enron stock. Instead I would suggest focusing on new releases, because if Funko has shown us anything it's that they have no intention of slowing down on the releases! Collect new stuff as it comes out and maybe add a reasonably priced older piece here and there and a year from now you'll be surprised at the size of your collection. And you will have gotten it for a reasonable amount. If you collect a bunch of thousand-dollar-Pops who is going to know anyway. The people that visit my house are just as impressed by a 10.00 Pop as they are by a 300.00 one (I don't think I have any worth more than that) and I'm sure it's the same for most collectors. I would also suggest you join the MCC, even though Marvel isn't my main interest I subbed day one and have really enjoyed getting those boxes!

Like Tres said... the Marvel line is one that can put you in the poor house in short order. Find the pieces you can't live without and then fill in the gaps as you can. My advice is to stick to one variant per character unless you have a particular obsession (example: I have nearly every Deadpool piece).
If you don't give yourself some kind of limit, you'll very quickly find yourself with Pops you don't care about (while new ones are announced) and you'll be left with an empty wallet and drool running down your chin.
Hi. My name is Chris and I have a Funko problem.

This post is originally from January of 2015, lol.

Marvel is a big one though, I have a lot and want a lot more, and I don't even get every single variant, thankfully. I can't resist Wolverine, although they are slow to release variants these days, sadly. I do have more Deadpool than I need, and there is a HUGE list of more Marvel, especially X-Men that I'd love for Funko to make. Marvel is the largest line I collect right now. :D

I ran into the same issue when i started years ago, didn't know where to start. I only collect Marvel and can tell you right now what I would do, is start with getting all the captain america civil war pops. Then get Ant-man/Giant man and the 2 pack of hawkeye and spiderman. Right there you will have all the avengers and more. After you can get Ultron and yellow jacket and all the rest. Id start out by collecting just one of every character and get exclusives and more later. Also get all the characters from the new line like captain marvel and spider gwen.

Collosus I think was just retired. Maybe more of the x men to come soon. We may not see any more x men because of the rights. It might be wise to pick some of those up. Usually pretty cheap.

Some people will say not to collect Marvel. Some people will say only buy commons and only slightly high priced exclusives. I am not these people. I am weak. "Yes" to all Marvel. All the time. All things.

Tis' too true. I get all googly-eyed for Marvel. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I say a lot of things about Marvel, but my actions tell a different story. My actions say "YES" to all Marvel, all the time. The heart just wants what the heart wants.

That's it exactly. I'm like that with more than just Marvel though. For those who can't tell my main lines include DBZ, Capcom, My favorite Disney characters. Everyone's different.

What the heck?? Old-thread-bumper, thine name is BEN lol Looks like the gent that started the thread is still active here, would be interesting to hear from him and see if he started collecting in earnest back when he started this thread, because there were still some great values in Marvel Pops back then!

I've been slowly reading through these posts, so now it's my turn. I'm almost exclusively Marvel....wasn't always that way but am now. Mine started with the "free" ones that came from the Pop Tarts promotion. After that, I bought what was readily available on the shelf wherever I could find them. Then, I slowly started buying variants and exclusives and harder to find pieces. To me, that was easiest.....least expensive & and readily available first.

just based on popularity, deadpool and avengers I would say. Antman pops are also pretty awesome too in my eyes.
