Well, it seems like HT's last two mystery releases went pretty smoothly. This one got screwed up because the one figure is so much bigger and heavier than the others. I doubt anyone at Funko ever thought "hey, people might notice the weight difference." Hopefully they'll learn their lessons from this and the ten-times-worse Gamestop debacle. GS STILL has those for sale on their web site, so I doubt we'll be seeing another mystery box promotion from them anytime soon.

PS- congrats to those that got whole sets, seems like most of you did pretty well on this one!

I'm guessing they probably had 30 or so and I grabbed 3 I thought were heavier than the others. I'm too nervous to open them though lol. What a dork I am!

#-o 2 Slapsticks and 1 Stingray. So much for my weight calculations lol. Oh well, was fun.

My story:
One of the employees was gifted a "blind" Madpcap earlier in the day, and it was regular. I came in after work and they had two left in their stock.
Opened the first one - regular.
Opened the second one - metallic!
Sorry for those of you who bought eight boxes and didn't get a single one.

It's easy to see if it's been messed with...it's tightly shrink wrapped. The ones I encountered at one store just plain didn't have the shrink wrap on them.

I refuse to by 15 just to get a chase that isn't even a guarantee sure thing. 15×12.50 is 187.50 not including taxes if I had that kind of money to burn I'd be happy to but speaking of burning if your in az like me its summer time here NOW lol so I'll use that 187 toward my electric/ac bill lmao. Congrats to those who got chase pieces I'm jelly

So I bought 5 and you can clearly feel the weight difference and also the brim of the hat on madcap. I only opened one so far and I felt the brim. Sure enough it was a regular madcap. I'm planning on doing an unboxing video for fun. Don't know if I can link it here though...

Went to my store just to check (had some other pops from there to exchange) Checked about 50 pops...TWICE, and none of them felt distinctly heavier than the others. The ones that might've felt heavier did not have any "feel" of a hat (although I was very gentle as to not bend the plastic). My bet is the employees set aside the heavy pops. Also, the girl told me as she curiously watched me lift up all the pops..."nobody yet has gotten a chase pop, so maybe you will!". I decided to not chance it.

Well I went to mine after work, hit it about 7 PM. Was easily able to feel the difference between madcap and the rest (it's about double the weight) and the girl who works at the one near me (and basically knows what I look for I go in there so much lol) told me if you sniff them, the chases supposedly had a heavy spray-paint like smell.

Well I sniffed a couple of the heavy ones.. one stunk a bit more than the others, and bought and extra heavy one and got a regular madcap and a chase madcap.. and the chase REALLY smelled like spray paint badly once I opened the seal.

Just another tip to those trying to find one. At 7 PM mine still had about 30 on the shelf.

As for me, I was first in line. Store had maybe 30 of them. I got 7. Guy after me got 12. And the girl behind him I think got 10. We didn't really leave much for whoever wanted to come in afterwards. Everything went smooth and without any problems. If anything, the guy behind me in line waited until I got my POPs and went to pay before checking them out for himself.

Do they even look into these things if I were to email them? And what is the contact info for HQ? Surely it isn't the generic customer support email address. I was going to go back into the store and take pictures and video but I was too ticked off to go back.

oh damn, I was about to ask if you had taken pictures as evidence. that's ridiculous, I would be p***.

I got to HT at 11:10 this morning and they had 10 left. The store normally opens at 11:00 but they opened 10 minutes early since they had some people waiting. I bought 6 since everyone before me probably sniffed, weighed, and felt up the boxes before I got there. Not too worried about dupes, because I have people at work that will probably take them. I'll update with what I got after I get home and open them.

They probably held all the Madcaps in the back to buy themselves. Wouldn't doubt it.

Its silly but I don't think theres a rule against it. Once again its even sillier b/c you do not need a scale at all to tell the difference at all between the other 2. The chase could very well weight just as much, a bit heavier or lighter than the regulars. I took my 6 home and weighed them and tested some other theories out. Got 1 regular madcap that weight .03 oz more than the chase.

Is anyone having troubles finding regular Madcap? I got 3 of each Stingray and Slapstick, and I can't find anyone to trade with for regular Madcap in my local groups. It says 1 out of 3 for every regular one, is that including the chase version though?

I saw a few cases opened. The Madcap regular edition was, at best, 1 in 6. Sometimes the other Chase replaced him, who is stated to be 1/24. The ratios are not correct on the back unless some stores just got solid packs of Madcaps, which is unlikely. On top of that. if they were already picked through, the Madcaps were the easiest to figure out by feel as well.

Yup! Outer sleeve was perfectly fine. I had this happen with the DC boxes last year...outer sleeve was fine but the box on the inside was creased all to hell.

the hat makes the window pertrude a bit too, so maybe some temp changes with the pressure made some wonky. most of the blind pops I got came nice though, just the two misfit madcaps were bad eggs

Just opened my six I picked up today. As expected, no Madcap, but 3 each of Stingray and Slapstick. Hopefully my web order gives me better results. On the bright side, a few friends at work already asked me about trying to get those two for them.

I opened a full case and didnt feel any Madcaps. Total out of the store were 3 chase 3 mad cap and the rest stingray/slapstick.

I honestly believe the case were 3:3

Either 3 sting/slap or 3 chase/madcap

haven't heard of anybody finding more than one madcap in a 6 pk case. they were usually 5 of slapstick/stingray combo and 1 madcap if lucky. sometimes none.

Unfortunately it looks like my finances won't be with me this weekend, so I won't be getting any of the mystery boxes, which means no Madcap for me. It's a bummer, but I'll live. I'm sure I'll be able to get the regular one someday, for a somewhat inflated price. Not much one can do when dumb things happen to your bank account, and if you have bills to pay. I look forward to being jealous of everyone's pics! :D

Wow. =D>

Similar situation at Vaughan Mills HT.

Called around noon, and they told me all the ones they had left are open boxes, without the shrink wrap. I had already made my purchases at another location in the morning, so no big deal, didn't bother.
But damn.

All the boxes at TPO, after noon, were crushed or ripped too -_-

Wow. =D>

Can't say I'm surprised with what happened at Vaughan, sadly. I went to the Markville HT. Only 3 of us were there. We bought most of them. No problems at all. They were actually still opening their boxes (the one they come in) and putting them behind the counter.

Fairview Mall HT apparently screwed a lot of people over - apparently a limit of only 1.
Hey yo, I'm Elyn!
