And if your ticket timestamp reference was to Hasbro at SDCC, there are tickets that actually are "Upon Opening."Chase Variant wrote:The tickets are timestamped, so I'm not sure who is making a mad dash except for the first round of folk. As I recall, Hasbro starts a little after the con opens to discourage people from rushing the booth when it opens.

I see some very respectful differences of opinion on this issue & just wanted to say I can really appreciate that. Bottom line is, we'll all see how well it works, or doesn't work in a few days.

Like Mick Jagger sang....................."you can't always get what you want".
As a Funko booth worker since 2006, I have seen many "systems" of distributing toys at the CCs. There are only so many made of each character.................chances are you may be the one of many to NOT get one. Sorry, but that is simply the way life is.
I have seen people trampled, pushed over, kids stepped on, disabled people caused suffering and many other maladies that the "want" of a toy can cause at a comic con. People waiting or wanting to get in line in line swearing, yelling, swinging at and threatening bodily harm all at Funko booth workers. A lot of us are collectors volunteering our vacation time to be a part of things and help Funko out.
Funkos current system of tickets was just started this year and only after a disabled person was trampled. When people have no regard for other humans and are willing to compromise the safety of others for a "toy".........then something has to change and this is what Funko is doing now. Like it or hate it, after what was experienced at the 2015 SDCC.
All I can say to you is "patience grasshopper".............many pieces that I thought I would never get have come my way simply by...........waiting. I want 1/12 pieces just like everyone else, but I rarely get them. Sometimes a rare piece was never meant to be yours.
That said, everyone have a fun safe NYCC and treat the people at the Funko booth with kindness

Agreed. No toy ... not even the super coolest Funko Pop! is worth my integrity! Here's hoping this system works!kevinbuddha wrote:Like Mick Jagger sang....................."you can't always get what you want".

Every exhibitor at every con should definitely do what they can to ensure that their customers and workers stay safe. They should also try to help make sure that lines and wait times are properly managed, because waiting in lines for 3 hours is what usually causes people to begin to lose it, and start acting like animals. Nobody's arguing that point.
But with the way this procedure has been written - Unless there is something I don't understand about this process - all it seems that is being done is that where the trampling, stepping on, yelling, and cursing will occur - it won't be happening at the Funko booth, it will be happening at hall 1C. Then the chances of said trampling/stepping on are actually increased because people will rush to the booth from hall 1C. Unless, of course, the tickets are timestamped, as mentioned by one poster. Then, the only thing that is removed isthe potential to trample when running to the booth. But this timestamp theory is nowhere in the procedure, as posted on the blog, nor has is been confirmed or even mentioned by anyone else.

Unless you have good cardio you'll literally be running from one side of the building to the other from hall 1c to Funko's booth. As a former NYCC volunteer I've seen some crap, I can say people need to calm the hell down! Seriously it's just toys be happy you're going to the con that sold out in a few hours.

"Tickets are valid for that day and time only."
There's mention of time in the procedures, so I'm assuming there are time stamps.

They may be time stamped but I have a sense it will be very generic like ... "After 11 am" and the afternoon line will say "After 2:30 pm" ... I'm hoping it will be more specific ... "11 am to 11:30 am" ... "11:30 am to 12:00 pm" ... etc. Can any funko admin confirm?
If it's generic like "After 11 am" then I wonder is that any better/safer than first come first serve at the Funko booth? As others have pointed out, it seems then the "line" has just moved from Funko Booth to 1C AND then you have the added safety vulnerability of hustling to the booth from 1C. A lot of questions and "unsuredness" ... even Funko seems unsure ...
"The queue for our ticket line is up to the discretion of NYCC. It is our understanding that the hall needs to be emptied before we can allow a line to form. However, whether or not lines form before 11 AM is beyond our control and will be determined by NYCC."
So definitely a little worried it's going to be a bit hectic and free for all but hoping and praying NYCC will have a real organized tight secure safe process for us. But won't be shocked if it turns a little crazy.

Oh and it's reached a point for me where I almost want it all to be a lottery!! Don't hate me when I say that, but to me there's nothing worse then putting out the time, energy and effort to get an item and not getting it. At least with a lottery, if you don't get it, you'd know quickly and could move on with your day and plan and do whatever else. Hey and no safety issue in that process!

You're over complicating this, Yoko already said you get a ticket for the appropriate time and go there at your own choosing. You get a ticket for a 11 you can come back any time before 2:30.

I understand your point, but it's the principal of the thing too. No one likes to be cut in front of in line, especially if they've been waiting for HOURS. It's all about respect and honor, if you've been patiently waiting your turn then it drives you insane to see some later arrival jump in front of you or shove you out of the way so they can get there first. No one should have to be subjected to that kind of disrespect whether they're waiting for Pops or groceries or a license renewal or whatever. These con's do have the ability to prevent that sort of thing from happening, by providing numbered waiting tickets and such. And one would think that they would be genuinely interested in doing whatever they can to help everyone enjoy their convention experience, so it seems like it would be a no-brainer.

They haven't mentioned a price to the best of my knowledge...what I do know for sure is that these are EXTREMELY limited. A very small amount were produced...
