I guess I'll be the first to say that I don't really like it. I do like the orange color in general, but why is the top of his head and his hands/feet not also the same orange color? Is his power source (presumably in the torso) overheating, and he's about to go nuclear or melt, and the outwardly spreading heat just hasn't reached his whole body yet? The answer, of course, is, because it's a "fade". But it just doesn't make sense to me.

Hikari colorways by and large don't have character lore-based explanations for their existence, outside of a few exceptions. I think this one falls into the "fun random colorways" category for sure.

Random color ways bugged me at first, kept me away from collecting them initially. Then the Iron Man mold dropped. Being the Shellhead junkie that I am I ordered all versions, dug them, said screw it to accurate colors and it all snowballed from there.

That said some of the random oddball color ways just do not work for me but to each his own.

I get it that they shouldn't always have to make sense characterwise, and the prism ones are fun and obviously aren't supposed to be anything except a fun color spectrum across the figure. But this "orange fade" seems like it's almost trying to make sense, but it doesn't.

Blue stormtrooper, or even dirty penny C-3PO (if he had pupils, which I might paint in later if I get it) I can make sense out of, each to me being just a suit of a different material or concealment color (blue stormtroopers wear this armor at night during a full moon, since everything looks black and bluish anyway, to hide in the shadows, etc.), even if they weren't intended to be such. But unless I call this "overheating threepio" or "DefCon 5 threepio", which I don't like, then I won't get it.

Since there's variations on these within the same colorway, I guess it's possible one has the orange all-over, but it's a con exclusive, so I won't be able to look them over in the store.

Eh, I really want that green one more anyway.

Not really planning on picking this one up but if they did name it this I would snag one in a heartbeat just for the sheer humor factor.
