The Pop to start an addiction

Postby Kr15h » Thu Jul 16, 2015 6:32 am

Why shello there,

Was looking at my Pop collection the other day and thought about what actually kicked it all off

For me it was King Leonidas, absolutely love him - first Pop and he'd be the one pop that I wouldn't part with

As much as I love it, he single handedly started off a pop addiction lol

So what was your first Pop! :mickey:

So envious of your Leonidas! Would love to find him for less than £50 :D (dream on Leonie...)

My first Pop was Tyrion Lannister with scar and axe, got him in December last year and since then I can't stop!

I bought the other half SDCC Walter White in GITD hazmat suit and SDCC beaten up Jesse for Christmas (his first pops) and at the time he was like 'yeah, they're pretty cool' and he wasn't too bothered about collecting them...now 7 months on he has over 50 and blames me for his addiction!!

Pops: 159
Pre order: 19

I had zero knowledge of what Funko Pop's were. Then we were grocery shopping and I saw a box of Pop Tarts that offered a free Captain America or Iron Man Pop just for purchasing the box. Well, my son loves Pop Tarts and the Avengers so I went for it. After seeing how cool the Pop's were we knew our next mission was to get the Hulk (our son's favorite hero), it didn't stop there and shows no signs of stopping any time soon.

I wish I could say my pop was some glorious, thrill-seeker... but it was Daryl from TWD.

BUT I had seen a few on youtube (didn't even collect them she just had a few) and when I first saw the funkos (for the first time IRL) at 7/11.. I HAD to get him.
After that was Leonard Hofstader at B&N. I only had those two for a long while.

This was 3 years ago, holy crap.

Dr. Teeth from The Muppets was my first (followed very quickly -later that afternoon- by Kermit, Fozzie, Swedish Chef, Sam Eagle and then the rest of the Muppets about a week later). I resisted the allure of the Pop! for a couple years before I finally cracked.

I've never really felt compelled to buy pops until recently don't get me wrong I bought them for years I liked them but it wasn't until Dr Ochanomizu, that I felt the need to buy everyone and every version of that line. So he started the "addiction" for me.

My Little Pony vinyls started me on Funko about 3 years ago now...I can't remember which Pop was our very first, but I know our first few were the Toy Story Alien, Zurg, Ariel, and Boo. From there it's all history and we're over 300. lol

MARTY McFly got me into it. The bobble heads initially turned me off, but I got over it and started collecting pops that I liked. I prefer the non bobble vs the bobble head pops, but all the marvel stuff is bobble and I couldn't avoid those anymore. I want more BTTF pops!

My Wife gave me Darth Vader since I'm a huge Starwars fan and that was it for me; now she wants me to slow down this vice! LOL

She's been supportive and doesn't want me to get rid of my actual POP!s but doesn't want me to keep growing my collection since we're out of space! LOL

I was buying Pops as gifts for friends long before I picked one up for myself. I think my first was the classic yellow and blue Wolverine, but it was really Marvel series 2 that did me in.
