Funko Claw Machines

Postby S3TH_ » Tue Apr 21, 2015 9:47 pm

Few questions,
Has anyone on here won anything?
If so, what?
Anyone from Georgia know where to find one?

I've looked up a lot about these since I found out about them, and it seems like there hasn't been any recent topics on it. So I thought I should make this instead of bumping an old thread.

Yes. People have won, but it can require a pretty hefty investment.

If so, what?

I don't remember.

Anyone from Georgia know where to find one?

You're better off never finding one.

Our mall has one.. but it's a 'master key' one. You have to line up the plastic shape thing in the same shape hole and push the prize out, or something like that.. but it's got an Anna pop in it and a few Wacky Wobblers/Vinyl Idolz for Funko stuff. Probably spend way more than 10 dollars trying to win it, plus three stores in the same wing sell the very same pop. :p

I usually see people trying to get one of the claws inside of the box, but sometimes it might get stuck.

Haven't come across one yet, but if we did I'll play it just to say I did. I've seen people post their winning funko prize on Instagram.
This is the beginning to a beautiful community friendship.

One was at the Funko booth 2 years ago during SDCC and people won lots of good stuff: Clown Dumbo's, prototypes, exclusives, etc.

These claw machines have a counter that dictates when to apply greater pressure on the toys within. They can be set to always apply more pressure, which is what you will see when the owner wants winners all the time. Which is what might happen at a convention or where the machine is being demo'd. In a standard setting, the claw might be set to only apply greater pressure after 50 or 100 unsuccessful plays.

Played it at SDCC. Tried to grab a Unmasked Jim Rhodes Iron Patriot. Claw pressure was far too weak to pick up a POP box. I hit it twice dead on and the claw just would not grip it. It was a rather disappointing experience...

I saw 2 machines this weekend at Walmarts. One of them had Rocky Balboa in it. The box was all jacked up really bad and it was toppled over on its back. I tried a few times and gave up. Later at another Walmart I saw a machine with a Paul McCartney Pop in it. Perfect condition and it was upright. I tried twice and it fell over in a way that makes it impossible to grab it.

These machines are stupid. I really wanted that McCartney pop....

A machine with Rocky in it? Hawt. Would be equal parts exciting and depressing, for having it in the machine but being unable to get it.
