Re: Retired POP Prices Skyrocketing?!?
I believe prices have to come down, especially on non exclusive Pop's - Ace Ventura can't constantly sell for $80 can he?

Some pop pieces have their prices shooting up because they are nice looking pops. Leonidas is popular because of its looks.

If there are more people wanting him at a price tag on $80 than supply, then yes he can.

Re: Retired POP Prices Skyrocketing?!?
I never really understand this "complaint" about prices going up. It's simple - if prices don't go up that means it isn't popular. If it isn't popular, people won't buy and prices go down or even worse the company stops producing the items. Skyrocketing prices means long term success...sure it sucks for the wallet but it's simply the law of supply and demand.

Unfortunately the Ace Venturas are not going down, that one more than likely will never be re-released, if you want it but it now before the price is well over $100 in the coming months

Re: Retired POP Prices Skyrocketing?!?
Kicking myself in the head for all the Pops I bought recently for over $50 that I ignored when they were $10, Alan from Hangover, Leonidas, Ace Ventura, Bane, Tupac, Notorious BIG and White Ranger all come to mind.
In the future if I see any Pop I am remotely interested in at $10, I'm just going to buy it, and hang onto it. At the absolute worst case if I really didn't care for the Pop, it seems like I can still easily sell it for at least my money back (or most of it) even months/years down the road.

Thank goodness for me being a huge Jim Carey fan. Bought Ace Ventura for $12 shipped when I first started last September. Now just waiting for the mask or Lloyd Christmas. On topic, why have raj & super boy gone up in price?! Blasphemy.

Yeah I found a Raj and Leonard at ECCC for $15 each, and I think they're hovering $35-$40 now? there's definitely been a huge shift in demand.
I mean heck look at R2Q5 it's a NEW release and it's going for $35-$45 right now.

And if everyone takes the approach of buy it to probably sell, what do you think happens?

Same - that's why I own the Dumb & Dumber Wacky Wobblers double pack & the Freddy Funko Ace Ventura, glad I bought that before it jumped too!
A Lloyd & Harry Pop set with Shaggin Wagon Pop Rides is needed!

Like I said, I'll probably get at least my money or most of it. from what i've seen the only old pops that sell for less than original retail right now are Magic and Planet of the Apes. So I think I'm going to be fine. My thought process is to eliminate Leonidas, Psy and Hangover Alan happening to me again.

Basic supply and demand. I am also in the group who is relatively new to the hobby and missed a lot of this when they were released.
I can't believe that they are people thinking that this is not what they are worth, that they are just some buyers increasing the prices, haha.

I feel bad selling them for so much but if there's people willing to buy them, I can't complain - we're doing some work on our house and that money is putting a serious dent in the cost.
Jeepers! I guess if we're talking the "big dogs", that's pretty much standard these days.
Yeah those are some pretty sought after ones. I ended up getting about $1300 for my Metallic DC Gemini Set that I paid $60 for 2 years ago.
Either prices are going to keep going up, or they're going to crash. Either way I'm pretty happy selling right now.
I'm contemplating selling my set as well to help pay for a rather substantial purchase.
Also, Green Arrow was the one I wanted most from the set. Being able to pick up A Green Arrow for cheap soon is helping me think this way.

I would use 'irrational exuberance'.
Or maybe 'undereducated collectors'

Assume you mean the 4 inch - he was an exclusive if I remember correctly. Looking at the way prices have gone up on other difficult to ge tit just looks like market catching up a bit on him.

Re: Retired POP Prices Skyrocketing?!?
The skyrocketing prices tend to get me down at times, especially when wanting specific Pop figures. I try not to fall into the hype and paying outrageous prices, but sometimes the want is greater than my will
. But I have found that being patient tends to help out my wallet at times. Some Pop figures I've wanted with extremely high prices end up appearing in stores again for reasonable prices. If you can wait just wait, but if you feel you need the figure and don't think it will be re-released I say buy it now before it goes up even more.
