Who Would Be Interested in Broadway Pops?

Postby eastWOLF » Thu Mar 05, 2015 1:32 am

I think it would be an interesting concept, most stage plays have fantastic costume designs and I can't imagine them looking bland. Off the top of my head Les Misèrables and The Lion King come to mind! Look at these costumes!

Honestly, I was thinking this exact thing while watching Little Shop of Horrors today...

I would love Little Shop, I'm currently producing/directing our high school production and it's my favorite. Would also love some Hairspray pops.
My name is Jared!

I'm looking for the color protos for First Appearance Nightwing, TAS Robin, Robin as Batman, and Carrie Kelley

Yes! I am all for this! If Funko tackled the real big Broadway musicals they would have a huge following, especially musicals with very distinct characters.

Some that come to mind
-RENT
-Les Mis
-Into The Woods
-The Lion King
-Phantom of The Opera
-Cabaret
-Hairspray

I'm just thinking back to the Gertie Pop from E.T., where she's holding that pot of flowers, and it's so easy to just imagine a Seymour Pop holding the little Audrey II.

I was so sure that we would be getting some Into the Woods Pops as part of the Disney line when the movie came out, too...

I would be 100% on board with this, especially if we could get Les Mis and POTO - I would love a Wicked! line too, but then again Funko already has the Wizard of Oz line up.

Didn't they make a Phantom of the Opera one already? Would be cool if they made more Pops on shows.

A couple Book of Mormon missionary POPs would actually work well with a Lion King POP from the first post on this thread (for anyone who has seen the show).

Honestly, these would probably have to be at a highly limited run.

I have wanted a Broadway Icons series for a while. A stylized Lion King Pop!, little Cosette with her broom, Elphaba, Audrey II, Phantom (Broadway version looks different from the UM version).
Too soon?

OMG I've been thinking about this line too!
Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, they will make great Pops!
The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady (Eliza Ascot Gavotte Pop will look amazing!)
Into the Woods, Hairspray, Grease and many others!

*raises hand* YES! I was just thinking about this yesterday.
I would love to see Wicked, The Lion King, Ave. Q, or RENT. Every show that was previously mentioned would make great POPs. West Side Story would be an interesting choice, too.
