In the Beginning...
When I get bored, I sometimes find myself aimlessly wandering the interwebs in search of obscure fun facts. Of course, Funko is often the subject of my endless Googling. I ran across an article this morning that I've read a couple of times before, as I'm sure many veteran Funatics have. Thought I'd share it for new Funatics to get a little perspective and for not-so-new Funatics who'd like a little smile.

Who could have guessed funko would be become what it is today? Between Mike starting it and Brian expanding it, Funko is pretty damn amazing!

Thanks for the read and history. I see it was written in probably 2005. When did Brian acquire the company? And when did Pop!s get introduced? (Pop!s are what brought me to the game
, so I have to ask. The other productions are keeping me in the game
).
).My name is John, but I go by Candy or Candyman, too.

Not sure when pops were produced, but the original owner was mike becker, the COF, and he started the company 1998 I believe by making big boy bobbleheads.

I believe Mike introduced Brian to us at the 2005 Fundays gathering...that was the year of the freddy flyers hitting Craig in the head...i remember i was outside the venue having a smoke and Mike came out and we were chatting...he told me that something really big was going to happen that night...he had made up a dvd, sort of a good bye piece which we were able to get a copy...it was the year of the 1 of 2 20" Orange Suit Bone Daddy and Valentine Boop.

Re: In the Beginning...
there were no pop! at the 2005 comic con. I bought everything that year and took a picture of all on my kitchen table and no pop.

Re: In the Beginning...
I think the first ones were in clamshells....maybe from comic con that year. There were no pop in the 2010 Funko catalog which comes out at Toy Fair time but i had invoices after comic con for some 2.0 Funko Force which was what pop were originally called.

Brian was actually at Funko Fundays 2003 in Las Vegas. He played "the attorney" in the little skit of fun that Mike Becker was putting on and sat up at the table in front with Mike Becker, Bill Becker, Claudia Becker & Uncle Dave

Yes POP was originally called Funko Force 2.0. I have a T-shirt from the booth that year that has the logo for Funko Force 2.0 on it and the GITD Green Lantern was the hot piece that year. That started the selling out of pop before noon everyday at the Funko booth.

Re: In the Beginning...
Always learning something. I knew Funko Force 2.0 was the original name for the now PoP line, but I also thought there were only four pieces: black batgirl, green glow green lantern, blue batman, and metallic blue batman. I googled Funko Force 2.0 to find some pictures to post in this thread and was surprised to find a whole lot more Funko Force 2.0 pieces.
Kevin or Carol or anyone that was at SDCC in 2010, did all these pieces get released I the clamshell?
