Rat Fink Wobblers -- Real Vs Fake

So, I was reading an article last night (well, it was translated from Chinese, so I was *trying* to read it) and I decided to take a look at my Rat Fink wobblers to decide which were real and which were "fake"

These I believe are "real":


Based on the article information (tail length, hair color/position, etc) and the color of these, I believe them to be Chinese "knockoffs":


Can someone who bought directly from Gemini/Comic-Con post pictures of the last 4 I posted so I know if I have some hunting to do, please

Alright, here we go!

Exhibit A: Green Ones


The matte green one has the right length tail and I am pretty sure is a legit wobbler
The metallic "chase" with the white shirt has the right length tail, but I'm just not convinced it's one of the 30 chase pieces from that year
The metallic regular has a shorter tail and is in general smaller than both of the other ones. no bueno

Exhibit: Blue & Red Metallics


The "chase" blue metallic with the yellow shirt is more teal than blue and has a short tail. not one of the 30
The regular Blue metallic with the black shirt has the right coloring, tail length, etc
The gemini exclusive red metallic seems a little too maroon to me and, again, has that damn short tail.

By the way your metallic rats look off color besides the one with white but that could also be to sun exposer too

These two are chinese knock-offs...there was a whole thing about these fakes discussed years ago, i picked up these two knowing they were fakes just to have an example of the fakes...don't know if there were more.
If you want me to take pics of other real ones, i will.

The boxes (if i have them directly behind the wobbler and haven't gotten them offset) are left to right : Comic Con 2009 480 piece, special edition metallic 1500 piece on the next two and then Gemini exclusive 480 piece.

The font is wrong on all 4 of mine, so that settles that...at least I have a reference picture for my forthcoming WTB

Interesting. I also bought 2 finks from China just to check them out, figuring they were some kind of knock off. In looking at the two I have (metallic green & metallic turquoise blue), besides having the thinner font, they are the only two I own that the red painted veins in their eyes bled. That's why I was wondering if your white shirt chase, Jordan, was real because the red veins in the eyes looked pretty sharp; at least from that picture. Are they? Even though my white shirt chase also has the fatter font, I'm not sure if I'd automatically deem it a fake because the font is thin; it could be possible that Funko, over time changed the font thickness by accident. If Funko made all the chases at one time, then it's more likely they'd all have fatter fonts, but did they know how many regular finks of that style they were going to make or did they have to make more than one batch of chases as they pressed more regulars. Doubt we'll ever really know.

Have to agree with Carol's last comment; China is the world's king of counterfeit.

Alright, so here are the comparisons of Real vs Fake. Real is always on the right, fake on the left. Of all 4, the White chase is the best done, but the paint job and the hole on the bottom (hehe) are tell tale of a fake.
