Stitch 626 Opinion

Postby Apopalypse » Sat Nov 15, 2014 9:54 pm

I thought that choosing between the original Stitch Pop and the 626 would be easy (I can only afford one), and for the most part, I find the 626 a little bit more appealing, but the face just seems off. The angry expression is fine, but the patches around the eyes are just odd, a little too elongated. On the box art they're shorter and more angled, and I wish the actual Pop was more like that. Is it just me, what do guys think? And out of selfish curiosity, after glams are released could Funko still make an adjustment to the Pop before it's mass produced?

glass shattering.

Thanks, I never even noticed it before...bleh. Either way 626 Stitch looks more like Stitch, than "original" stitch. So that's going to be my reason why I pick that one.

It's fine. It just looks off because the head is larger than it would be if you were making a to-scale Stitch figure.

Even the first Stitch isn't 100% dead on...the light blue rings around the eyes should take up more room on his face.

Yeah, the blue rings should be have been larger on the first one. These are just hideously (my opinion, bit harsh, I know) stretched out. 626 has the detailed space suit, the guns, and ears that take up less space...but those patches are just so off putting.

Now that I see those lines, the face he's making is less angry and more worried compared to the artist rendition.

Ha, he does look worried. I think he's realizing he forgot his fourth gun at home.

I love the movie, but, I'm only really interested personally in collecting the Disney Villains. That being said, I think the new 626 version is a VAST improvement over the original. For the most part, I tend to be satisfied with Funko's design choices, but that original Stitch was, in my opinion, unappealing. (I feel the same way about Goofy's POP design and find Chernabog's underwhelming as well...but, again, nearly all of the Villains--which are my main want--have been FANTASTIC.)

+1 to this. I am a HUGE Disney Fan, and among the Disney Characters Stitch easily one of my top 5 favorite characters. Yet despite after buying at least 30 Disney Pops I still have not bought the Stitch for the reason you wrote above. Really excited for this 626 one.

Although not a big Disney movie, would be awesome if they made a Kronk one.

I feel the same here is what I posted about it in the lilo and stitch thread.

"I liked the previous one better, but neither seem perfect. The old one to me seems like it was stylized around the idea of the face being a certain shape. The new one it almost looks like they tried too hard to be accurate on the space provided.

The nose I thinks should be a little smaller on the new one. The blue outline around the eyes could have been rounded off on the sides better that way. The black line above the eyes I think comes down too far, and should just have been a small curve. It makes it almost look like clown eye make up the way it is."

Didn't even really see the artwork on the box, was too busy comparing the two pops. Yeah they definitely made the nose too big and ran out of room for the eyes to look better.

Hoping it looks better when it comes out.

TBH I prefer 626 Stitch WAAAYYY better than the original because it is more "movie accurate". For the situation of the extremely arched blue eyebrow I'm pretty sure that the original figure won't end up like that because most of Funko's glam pics are usually photo-shopped and look a little bit off from the original figure. FOR EXAMPLE:

Glam-Shot/Photoshopped:

Actual Figure, It's the only good actual photo of Simba I could find:
Image

As you can see the photo-shopped glam pic does not due the actual figure justice! in the Glam Pic Simba has bigger eyes, his mouth is wider, and his head is a tad bigger. So even though the Glam-Shot does provide a good idea of what the figure is going to look like you shouldn't really judge the figure unless you have seen it in person! I hope this helps you with your question/opinion about 626-Stitch. :)

I think this one is a big improvement on the first one. I don't think the other one looked very much like him, but I think this one really does.

What a tough call! Hope you are happy whichever one you decide on :) I can't say no to any of them - too much of a Stitch fan. I'm hunting for a Stitch Trade Night Vinylmation Variant right now as it is....
Ahsoka / Wednesday Superfan
HOF #94 - Class of 2023
ISO Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel MCU action pose
Wednesday Addams Netflix Proto
Sabine Wren Proto
Moon Knight Proto
