Funko SDCC 2014 Exclusives - Updated 7-21-14 on Page 1

All I'm saying is there's a whole group of movie fans who already love this product and are pre-disposed to becoming actual POP collectors, but are put off by the fact that, once again, the breakout character of a Marvel movie isn't getting a figure, i.e. Black Widow with The Avengers and Falcon in CA:TWS.

I can see where you're coming from with Falcon, just about, but going just on the films, Black Widow was easily the second-most-useless Avenger after Hawkeye. She was there, and that's about all that can said. She was, however, deeply involved and excellent in Winter Soldier... and got a figure.

There's no Hawkeye either, is there? Odd, maybe, but I'm OK with that both from a Marvel and a Cinematic Marvel POV.

For those that have attended past San Diego Comic Cons, how do they do their exclusives? I am looking forward to getting the Game of Thrones Legacy figures. Do they do like other vendors like Mattel and Hasbro where all items are available at once or are the exclusives allotted to certain days? Just want to make sure if they are allotted, I am there on the right day.

Funko stocks the booth with all their exclusives everyday. The con allows the vendors to restock ONLY once during the day so if Funko runs out after they have restocked there is nothing they can do. Funko does their best to bring enough of all their exclusives so they can put stock out everyday. I think they do an excellent job.

I will say that Funko has become VERY popular and the wait to get into the booth can be very long. I think some people waited up to 2 hours last year. Plan accordingly. Hopefully Funko will bring the claw machine for people to play again this year .

Does anyone know if any of these will be available in the UK at all? I know its a long shot but there are a few I am interested in.

I'm UK based too and I know Forbidden Planet had some of these exclusives last year so I'd have a look on there first. Failing that Popcultha is brilliant and delivers very quickly to the UK or you could try Gemini. Although the postage from there is a little bit more than Popcultha.

Really hoping for a GoT announcement today and really hoping to see an Oberyn mini in the mix too!

Actually people are still complaining on my various Funko posts about the lack of a Hawkeye figure, but I didn't include him since he at least got a Mini Mugg and a Walmart Exclusive 7in figure, so the overall anger/complaints/frustration at the lack of a Hawkeye POP was less than it was about there not being a Black Widow POP.

And did you see The Avengers? Natasha was the one who tricked Loki into revealing his plan and was the first to go on the offensive, taking control of the portal. At the very least, she ties with Cap in importance in the movie and definitely before Thor. But this is besides the point - the point is there were a lot of female fans who do not want to buy action figures but do want to buy POPs and were put off by the lack of Natasha and Sam from their respective lines. Guardians of the Galaxy was a great step in the right direction - a lot of people assumed that Gamora would be left out in the rush to market Rocket and Groot. But the flip side is that people have/are realizing how little merchandising Marvel did for CA:TWS*, and so rightly or wrongly they were pining their hopes on the SDCC exclusives to fix that.

*and yes I know T:TDW had even less, but that part of the fandom is so focused on Thor and Loki that you didn't have the same sort of complaints that you did with CA:TWS

They put the claw machine closer to the entrance where the people are on line to get in. There is no separate line for this. The only people who can play are the people who are already in line.

That's smart. I remember a Tribble claw that was meant to distract people during lines at a Trek convention, and a couple of people just tied it up for most of the day... making it part of a moving line is very sensible.
