Feel like it would be a cheaper day to rent out a venue spot. Just hard to imagine how the energy will be.

First time getting the hotel block. Have always done a rental in North Park and car rental. So it'll be fun to finally be walking distance.

Yeah still the weekend. Weekday is usually cheaper. That’s why most events are Thursday or Friday during con.

A venue on Sunday to rent would still probably be a pretty penny!

and it wouldn't be ideal for many people. sunday is the final day of the con with several people leaving. keeping it Friday and Saturday would be the best since it takes advantage of peak con time.

I tend to agree with this sentiment- I’ve heard mixed things about whether or not they will have an event this year.

I think they're probably trying to figure out their logistics on the business side given all the changes lately.. but this event definitely has to be great for marketing so who knows maybe they're just waiting a little longer to announce something. Or it might exist in a different form this year.. maybe another panel?! Ballroom 20?! ha

have no insider knowledge but it makes sense given they're trying to change things up with releases and Mike & Brian are both gone now. yea mike and brian were main drivers for fundays since they loved the events and fans so much, with them out the passion to have the event vanished with them. hopefully i am wrong here and funko keeps the event going.

Like everyone I am curious to see if there is a fundays and if so how the show goes since all the main "hosts" have left and with Mike and Brian having their own SDCC parties for their new companies. Last year they did things for fundays later then previous years so I am hoping this year they dial it back to early may and end our suffering in either direction.

Yeah I hope they do have another event during SDCC, even if it’s not a “Fundays.”

Same here. Kind of exciting to have a different date and place to mix it up for now.
Gives SDCC less pressure and now less stuff to have to transport to home. But now its another weekend summer trip for me. Time to figure out some logistics.

I’m excited for this new format. SDCC is always so hectic between the actual con and then following Fundays. Last year I was able to get into Fundays so it was a lot of effort planning my day at SDCC, what I was buying and how I was going to store it, before going to Fundays.

My feelings are mixed on this change - I prefer the old way and probably won’t be able to attend the event in Hollywood - I can understand how people from California would like this change. It’s hard strange a separate trip for non locals most of the time.
