Droppp Arcade Update

Postby billyconard » Mon Nov 04, 2024 11:19 am

Didn't see anyone mention this here - but Droppp posted an updated on their Bloggg on Halloween with a tiny update about the Arcade.

You can read it here: https://droppp.io/bloggg/

The cool news is that they confirmed that the rewards will be physical Funko Pop! designed for the Arcade. And that they've locked in the leaderboard mechanics and are finalizing rewards for the first three seasons!

It would be fun for the NFT Card collectors to use those old cards for something cool. I'm pretty excited....

Nice, excited to see what this means for the NFT side of the house. I think some of those long-term collectors should get some benefit to constantly backing the NFTs.

I hope the wallet / marketplace change isn’t too hard to navigate. I’m sure droppp will put out some good resources. Excited for the arcade and those redeemables!

My guess is that the first physical related to this will be unique characters vs. existing IP. I think if they had awards of say Harry Potter or whatever, it would anger too many Funko Funatics.

But I can definitely see future physicals centered around IP in the arcade.

No matter what - I'm excited to see what they do! I'm glad I have all my NFTs from different sets over the last couple of years. Hope they pay off somehow!

I agree, at first the physicals will probably be Freddy related. I am fine with them focusing on Funko originals since that is mainly what I collect now.

I have only ever sold duplicate NFTs so I still have all of mine, too. Hoping it pays off in Arcade.

Same here. I keep all my NFTs, except for dupes. But I can’t help but feel like the whales will have a huge advantage.

Hoping they get this going soon, really wondering how they are going to do this. Also hoping for some really cool rewards like prototypes to be available.

Pretty cool concept, I like how it shows you where you would end up in the standings if you burned all your inventory. Will be interesting to watch towards the deadline and see start burning their NFTs and shoot up the leaderboards

I felt like waiting until the end too, but a lot of their messaging says they will give out prizes intermittently...so I wanted to be somewhat near the top just in case.

The cutoff for the pop is a crazy amount... I wonder what season 2 is going to look like if a lot of people are converting their NFTs now?

I'm going to sit this initial "season" out and watch what happens once the redeemable 333 piece item hits the secondary market... I think this might finally dispel the myth that piece count alone can sustain a higher secondary market value... If the low count item is actually not that interesting, it may not sustain a higher price, and if that is the case, I suspect this particular item will be easier to obtain later on without burning large portions of an NFT collection...

Why not? These weren't going to hold any real value in the long run, imo. I am happy i can turn in the NFTs i no longer want for a chance to get a cool physical pop. I may have turned in too many at this point for Season 1, but i think Seasons 2 & 3 are going to be easier?

Grail, royalty and mythic cards will be worth some money, especially if they get an IP tied with the arcade.

Value is in the eye of the beholder. My opinion on these NFTs and value - is that they need a young audience to engage with. Like Teens and 20-somethings. If that's happening (I have no idea if it is or not), then they will likely look back fondly on this time of collecting in 10 or 20 years and want the NFTs. If it's not, then this just fades over time. But so does everything else...It's not because NFTs are different, it's because they are the same as any collectible. They are in demand for a time, then fade unless demand grows again (nostalgia, renewed/expanded interest in a specific IP, etc.)

The nfts in and of themselves aren't worth anything to me, but the amount of points they carry is what I feel the value comes from. Especially at the end of seasons, people will spend a lot of money to stay in the top 333.

I have always wondered how an NFT is viewed compared to something that is tangible. I myself rather have something I can physically hold but if an NFT is in a collectible frame (something like CGC) would that make it tangible?

Yah that is the worst when you miss out on a special deal or promotion because you were just ahead of the game :(

I knew they would do something tied to the people in specific ranks along the way. It's a pretty bad experience to do a "contest" midway through asking people to do a specific action, especially if they had already done that action before the "contest" started. Really bad UX
