Funko Announces New Limited Edition Products for 2025
Just saw this on Twitter and thought it was pretty interesting. Looks like Funko is trying to bring back super limited edition Pop! through Funko Fan Rewards. Apparently there will be multiple tiers for LE releases: Ultimate ($100-200), Mythic ($60), Grail ($50), Legendary ($40), Royalty ($30), Ultra ($25), Elite ($20), Supreme ($20)

This is cool to see, I get the higher price point... $100-200 seems excessive for the top tier unless it is a unique mold that requires more cost to produce lower quantities.

WE ARE BACK TOYBOIS (and girls)!!!!!!!!! Hoping for surprise drops on random days with heart racing including for free!!! I love this new structured model too, limits the quantity and auto puts them into a higher tier of value (perceived at least)

It's certainly interesting, but oof why do the price change.
I agree with Dillon, the high price ones need to feel like they deserve the higher price points...
This is just making me feel like pepperidge farm

Re: Funko Announces New Limited Edition Products for 2025
If I am understanding this correctly, it sounds like these will be made available through the points system within the rewards system, meaning you would still need to spend money to accrue points to spend on redemptions on the items. I'm wondering if this is another way for those to spend points who didn't know what to spend on or have been unable to hit on things like proto redemptions. It's a good idea! I could also be misinterpreting this and they could be making a straight purchasing system through the rewards system but I guess we will see.
Overall I'm happy to see Limited count pieces return.

Yeah that confuses me too, unless they are going to revamp fan rewards to make it like an exclusive shop or something.
If not, then yeah I can see people blowing through points and then buying to be buying to get more points

Oh wait I thought about it more.
Perhaps this means you need a Funko account, as a way to crack down on bots.
Or track to make sure 1 per account is enforced

Personally, it feels that they just used the Droppp NFT concept and applied it outside the NFT space.

Re: Funko Announces New Limited Edition Products for 2025
I’m excited and hopeful about this! I think we’ve definitely seen Funko shift more and more into mass producing products over the years like a typical toy company. But more recently they’ve been bringing back smaller LE piece counts at conventions and even Fundays/the Box of Fun last year. I know Droppp was where the most consistent limited-count Pops were being released, but a lot of collectors don’t want to deal with NFTs, so I think this is a good idea!
I’m very curious what types of Pops will be dropping — if they’re from a range of licenses or mostly Funko’s own IP/designs, etc.

Definitely something I’m wondering about as well. I think Funko specifically said in the blog that the Ultimate tier ($100-$200) are autographed. I’m wondering if they really are 1-99 piece “made,” like they said, or if it’s a lower tier Pop with an autograph and they’ll only be selling 1-99 of them

Only time will tell but my guess is we’ll be able to purchase with money (not points), but they will only make those purchases available to Fan Rewards members (not simply people with a Funko.com account). The most exclusive pieces will only available through Funko.com/Fan Rewards, but the bottom tier (Supreme) is limited to 7,501-9,500, and those seem to only be available through select retail partners (like Entertainment Earth or Hot Topic, I’m guessing).

I really have to see this demonstrated to fully understand I think... the molds, fan rewards part, etc.
Could be cool?
Interesting that Funko is still expanding and offering different experiences for the collector!

Re: Funko Announces New Limited Edition Products for 2025
I'm on the fence with this tiered system.
On one hand... lower LE makes them more expensive for Funko to produce, so having a higher price point makes sense.
Also stops "some" of the flipping because it's already at a higher value, making resale profit margins thinner.
I'd rather pay funko a few extra bucks for a rarer item than pay a flipper, or scambay fees.
On the other hand... rewarding the fans with higher priced items doesn't sound like much of a reward.
While the pops may be great designs, of characters we want, they eventually become over priced for what you're getting.

Re: Funko Announces New Limited Edition Products for 2025
The new price seems like a way to cut out scalpers, and I appreciate that. I don't know if that will cut way back on reselling or if someone will still buy one for $50 and try to resell for $100, but after they take a bath on a couple of those that should stop like it did with NFTs.
I can do without the hard stacks though. I toss those in a box in my basement because they aren't very good protectors but I just can't bring myself to toss them away.

This is pretty much how I feel about it, too. Or to put it another way: as long as it doesn't mess up my main lines

I've always wanted the limited numbered pops to comeback, but paying more is something that I don't agree with. Going to cons is super expensive, every year my family and I spend about 2k on our room alone. I'd like it to be the way it was before 2014 when Funko decided to share exclusives. I can understand the business side of it, but going to the con and getting lucky with a booth entry makes it a memorable experience and worthwhile. Just my opinion

Re: Funko Announces New Limited Edition Products for 2025
Charging more for more limited pops is iffy to me. I know they mentioned something about being autographed, but hopefully the pops are also more detailed to justify a higher price. I don’t think raising the prices will deter scalpers. If anything they’ll just charge even more on top of premium for the pops being so limited.
