I really really want the Indy Pops but the comic con one is super expensive and the parks one seems impossible to get. So are the rest only going to be parks or con exclusive?

Which will make it impossible for me to get in the near future...I remember seeing the SDCC one available at a secondary seller at comic con and going for 200 and I passed. Wasn't going to give a scalper the satisfaction.

Consider this, the "scalper" had to buy a ticket to SDCC, pay for parking, invest time and effort to get the Indiana Jones. All that has to translate into some type of extra compensation, no?

I disregard cost of ticket, parking, etc... as that is a cost incurred regardless. One is already going to the convention for themself whether or not they obtaining anything for others or to sell. The time/money specifically spent on getting the item is a different story.

umm, no. If a vendor doesn't think they can turn a profit at the convention without reselling the convention exclusives from other booths than they should rethink being there in the first place. IF, a vendor wants a figure for their own personal collection than I have no issue with them being able to get it, however if they only want it to resell it for more than they can kiss my a**. Sorry but I saw too many at ECCC reselling for me to ever have respect for that part of the market again. IMHO the only legit way they should have had an INDY for sale would be if a collector had traded it for a different grail.

If a vendor can make even more money selling convention exclusives from other booths and nothing is put in place to stop them, I don't see the issue. They're in business to make money, and a lot of money can be made reselling convention exclusives. I agree that if they have an unfair advantage getting in the lines early like at ECCC last year, that's not right, but at SDCC this year, vendors had to work just as hard as the rest of us to get a shot at the Funko booth, if that's the case all the power to them.

sorry but I respectfully disagree, it is a combination of vendors doing things like that and the flippers at the Disney Parks and various store exclusives that are starting to make me less and less excited about new releases because it is getting to the point of too difficult to actually get the things I want.

Yup, Funko hates money and did this all on purpose just to p*** collectors like you off.

It has to do with the their licensing agreement with Disney which is somehow blocking a general release for whatever business reason.

well, with Disney saying they have a large stock to fulfill every cancelled order... very sure of themselves. ... that gives me the idea they are now going to be receiving their regular 100,000 piece shipment from china or something. Disney exists to make money. Lots of money. They want to sell these pops.

I'm just guessing, but I'd expect to see these readily available in the park before christmas. At that point, people can order it from the app easily too. And that means the ebay prices will crash down to about $35. The pop is regularly $20, let's say $5 for shipping from Disney, so add $10 for ebay convenience... $35 on ebay would be fair.

keeping fingers crossed that I'm right.

It turned out to be a very very popular product. So they made the correct business decision, they didn't need to wait.

just got off the phone from ordering Indy. She said that they are also giving expedited shipping to us free so they re eating a huge cost on these. She also said that this shipment of figures they are fulfilling for us first and we are limited to 1 each. She also said they learned the lesson on these and any future parks exclusives they won't be doing the normal 10 quantity limit at the parks and will be watching their app orders to make sure that they are actually fulfilled. I was very thankful for how they handled this for us. Even being in W she said she won't be surprised if it arrives Monday or Tuesday next week!!!

My wife just informed me that my math may be off by $5-10. I forgot about ebay/paypal fees. so I predict closer to $40-45 on ebay.

Disney does love money so it is odd that these are all exclusives. Really is kind of a dick move to make something so iconic harder to get. Hopefully most will be park exclusives, sold on the app, and kept in reproduction as long as demand is there.

Well, it does take a lot of money to grease an operation that big.

Brian has said that it is an licensing issue that is keeping these from going mass retail. He stated that he's been wanting/working on making these happen for a long time and branding them under the theme park attraction banner and as park exclusives was the loop hole that made it happen.

If there was a chance for more money to be made they would take it, just a licensing restriction holding them back. There was some funky details in the Indiana Jones rights when Disney purchased Lucasfilm. They own the character but the distribution/film rights are tied up elsewhere.
