Ordering cases for chases

Just curious if anyone has ordered 6 of the same Dorbz just to get a chase. I've considered ordering something like Hulk or Spidey from Entertainment Earth in a quantity of 6 in hopes of getting an unopened case with a chase (and then selling the extras off). Has anyone done this and, if so, did it work?

I hadn't considered returning them. I'd considered ordering 6 each of Shaun of the Dead ones when they're both available. Now I'm considering if I'd want to return 4 of them and keeping one regular and one chase.

If I buy 6 of one Dorbz just to get the chase I sell off my remaining ones at like $9 shipped a piece. Think of it this way would you want to be the next person to order six and only receive the left over standard versions that were returned?

Agreed, much easier to just buy the Dorbz chases you want, I've picked them up for as little as $19 on eBay, which isn't bad atall.

Regarding Amazon, I received a chase Red Hulk from them.

For what it's worth, I ordered 6 Shaun of the Dead Eds through Hot Topic and 6 Shauns through Entertainment Earth and got one chase of each. I doubt ill do this again, but if i can sell off the 4 extra sets for $10-$12 each it definitely is cheaper than buying the regular and chase version second hand.

So, I didn't want to do it, but I did it. I ordered 6 Shaun of the Dead Ed's at Hot Topic in store. When they arrived, I got 2 chase Eds (I gifted one to Blake85). I returned the other 4 to the store as an exchange, and used the money towards 4 single Dorbz I wanted in store. Worked out, I got my chase, and 4 other dorbz. The girl said since I was exchanging, it didn't screw up her numbers for the day so she wasn't even mad. And it makes them carry more dorbz in store so I am happy.

I experimented and order 6 of the ID aliens from GameStop. They arrived yesterday, and not a single chase..whomp whomp...

I guess I'll be returning them to the store. The only part about that that makes me feel slightly better is that I buy a lot of my POPs from that store.

Exchanging may not hurt store sales figures, but it does prevent more stock from coming in if they are showing a higher qty on hand than normal.

For instance, one of my local HTs just got a massive 8-10 piece return on Castiel Dorbz. The cashier told me that the buyer was hoping for chase. Yeah, theres no way that a new order of Castiel dorbz would be coming in with an existing on hand qty of 8.

So there are some definite positives and negatives to ordering case qtys in your hunt for chases. I have done it once at B and N and actually it was a huge hassle for me. So I havent even thought about attempting to do it again.

I agree with you Alyssa, but I will say returning something like Ed (that's an on-line exclusive) might actually sell in a physical store that never carries that figure. Personally, I'm not returning anything extra I've got. Again, even if they never sell I'm not paying much more to get two regulars and two chases I don't have than if I were to order them separately on ebay. My conscience can live with that.

Zero judgement. Like I said, Ive done it before. But i think it can and sometimes does affect would-be incoming product. Around these parts, my HTs dont get in squat for Dorbz. So im not sure it matters TOO much here. Just saying its a possibility.

Yeah my hot topics are terrible for dorbz...TERRIBLE. one has had the same 5 rockets and xl batmen since release, the other has all the same GOTG since release. I ordered the shaun ones now that he popped up online. I am going to split up exchanging the Shauns between 2 different stores. the young woman working there said that instead of just shoving them on the bottom shelf of the pops where they will be forgotten, she is going to put them over by the zombie stuff.

So, I tried to order a case of Hulk and Spider-Man figures from my LCC, but he said that Funko is out of stock of them. I then decided to order 6 of each from Entertainment Earth since they were in stock yesterday. Today, my order is showing as partially back-ordered and I'm only getting 3 Hulk and 4 Spideys. I only ordered from them because I've been assured they send unopened cases when you order in case quantities and if I get stuck with a bunch of regulars and no chases I'm going to be a little upset. I sent an e-mail to their customer service to see if the order can be cancelled or all backordered, but I'm still not sure why they show in stock if they're not.

*Just did the online chat with someone. I can cancel what is back ordered, but then would lose the free shipping I got. Otherwise, she pointed out they have a 90 day return policy. Overall, had their inventory just said they didn't have a full case yet I wouldn't have had to mess with any of this. Lesson learned.

So here is what I have been doing, When I find out a particular Dorbz will have a Chase, I preorder 6 from EE. So far, every time they have sent me a sealed case of 6 which includes the Chase. I then sell to my local community for $7/ea, works out great in the end. Although I have been told it is not a guarantee that they will send you a whole case. So far so good

I would've just waited for an exchange instead had that been the case. Doesnt happen too often since they are usually very good about bubble wrap now but occasionally there will be one or two smashed in...

Working in retail, I know that any return adds a negative to their day. So if they have a sales goal, every straight return takes away from that goal. Returning a case of pops or dorbz is a serious blow to that number. Obviously returning something damaged doesn't matter, that is a legit transaction, no one would be faulted for that. I am talking about me being a tool and ordering 6 dorbz just so I can get 1 chase haha.

Has anyone tried the case for chase with amazon? I was going to order some from them, if there is a chance for a chase I may as well order a few more.

Iv never done ordered case numbers, but I have orderd multiples for chases, its worked once (I was doing it wrong I guess ) I haven't had much trouble moving the others, with various site fees I may eat a few cents here and there but all part of the game

For what it's worth, I got the first part of my EE order today. Got 4 Spideys and 3 Hulks and one Spidey was the chase. Still have 2 Spideys and 3 Hulks on backorder. I'm thankful for the one chase, but this got way more screwed up than it I was expecting.

Amazon only covers return shipping if it's damaged or the wrong item. Ordering several just to order the chase wouldn't qulaify for that

My experience of ordering 6 'in-stock' Hulks and Spidey was awful. They only had 4 Spidey and 2 Hulk actually in-stock and backordered the others. I got a chase Spidey in that order and then one in the second half, but no Hulk. They're okay with me returning most of the order, but I had to pay $16.55 to ship them back and I'm fairly certain I'll lose my free shipping. Like I told them, had it been clear they didn't actually have them in stock I wouldn't have ordered, but apparently it's my fault others ordered at the same time and their orders were filled before mine. I'll probably try this again with EE, but only on new product that hasn't been released yet.

That sucks! I have only been doing this with preorder items, and when it's over $100 in preorders, shipping is free so 6 is about $48 which is roughly what the Chase costs on the second hand market, again, it's not a for sure thing but so far so good

So it seems EE is the best place if you plan on ordering a case of 6 to get your chase? considering putting in a order of 6 for crossbones and black panther. Both Temp out of stock/coming back in stock soon, figured may be last chance.

Was also considering BBTS. ANybody order 6 from them and got an unopened case?
