I'm still waiting for Toy Wars to ship mine, Frankenstein is the only one in my order that still shows Pre-Order so he must be what's holding it up

I got Bride of Frankenstein yesterday. I like it a lot more than I thought I would! Now I just need to get wolf man, & mummy. Might as well get the whole line. I'm really satisfied w/ the bride of Frankenstein.

This line is called 'Monsters' right? Not Universal Monsters....
I ask this because the Phantom is based on the 1925 'phantom' which a silent German film, not universal's. I'm guessing Nosferatu will be in this line also.

No, the Phantom of the Opera IS a Universal Monster: it was an American film produced by Carl Laemmle, same as the 1923 version of Hunchback of Notre Dame, also starring Chaney, Sr. Lon Chaney Sr. was a huge star for Universal. Nosferatu will not be part of this line, though, as he IS a from a German production.

Erm the pop looks just like the 1920's Phantom and nothing like Universal's 40's Phantom. Google and compare.

The 1925 version with Lon Chaney IS a Universal film, produced by Carl Laemmle. The 1943 version, starring Claude Rains, while a Universal picture, was a remake.

Yes! This is, rightly, considered the most iconic. It's nothing against Claude Rains (fantastic as he is), he's just up against one of the most legendary performers (and MAKE-UP ARTISTS) of the early cinema. Chaney Sr.'s Phantom is STILL the definitive take on the character.

That the pop is based on the 1925 film. :p
I was wrong about everything else though, haha, I thought the 40's film was the only Universal film

Yeah, I thought you were getting it mixed up with the 40s version, but, I was a little confused myself there for a bit.

You were right about Nosferatu NOT being a Universal film. It was actually an unauthorized German adaptation of Dracula! But, it's still probably the BEST Dracula film ever made: far more faithful to the novel than the Bela Lugosi version (which was, actually, based on a stage version and not the novel itself). The Nosferatu POP looks amazing, though, and would look great lined up next to the Universal Monsters! (He did, after all, sort of pave the way for them!)
