The Pop! that got away...

Lets rewind back 6 months ago when I first started collecting...

I was browsing eBay just looking at what new Pop! to add to my collection when all of a sudden I came across my holy grail. The auction was for a 4 pack of DC figures. 2 Green lantern pops ( one hal and one green lantern) a DC direct Green arrow figure and the grail piece to tie it together...a Green Arrow Pop! figure IN BOX mind you. I watched and watched as the price climbed...40...42...50...60. Finally giving up on it as I thought it was out of my price range. Come the night the auction ends...it ends for $80 shipped. Since then, I have been looking and looking day in and day out on ebay for a Green arrow pop! figure only to see the asking prices in the $200 range.

This was the Pop! that got away...

Any of you have similar stories? About the one that got away?

I lost a auction with 7 seconds left for a Bane pop! It only went for $30 & change. Im still upset about that one.

I was in Indianapolis with my girlfriend visiting her family in the December of 2012. We were at a comic book store and there was a Green Arrow Pop! figure sitting there. I thought about it for about 5 minutes and decided to save my $10.

You know how the rest of the story goes.

I wish I would have bought one Alan and Carlos pop that went for $15. I told myself I'd get it later. But now they are like $50. There are a lot of pops like that now, though. Only takes a couple of weeks. Haha.

I bought Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, SHAZAM! and Bane when they first came out, but I sold them before they were retired for close to original retail.

I know there's a "kick me" sign on my back, I put it there myself. ](*,)

Well, I'm not sure if this is related to this topic, but it is a messed up story.
See, I bought a biker daryl online for 30 bucks, because I thought he was hard to find............
About 2 weeks later, I saw him at a comic book store for 11 bucks............. there goes 20 bucks out the door.

I remember when POPs were brand new and I kept putting off buying a Riddler thinking "I really don't have extra spending money right now but there will always be more." Yeah, not so much.... (Also should've ordered a box of Banes for customs when I had the chance. My Gambit customs haven't looked as good without Bane bodies...)

A few months back I passed on a NYCC Flashpoint Batman on eBay thinking the $100 asking price wasn't gonna budge. Fast forward a few months and $300-400 later, I'm kicking myself daily for passing on it.

Edit: also a place in NY Chinatown (DaShop if anyone is interested, still go there as they always stock up on tons of pops) had TDKR Bane, Riddler, Penguin, and a ton of other now retired pops with plenty in stock no less than a year ago. Of course I passed those up too #-o

I cancelled my Forbidden Planet order for Headless Ned last winter assuming I wouldn't get one anyway and figured I should just use the money for other stuff. Turns out I absolutely would have gotten one. Oh well.

The Genie was readily available back in the beginning of August when I was hunting for a Groot and I totally passed on him, now he's pretty hard to come by and I wish I had him.

I was at Barnes and Noble back in June and didn't purchase Rhaegal. Now I can't find him anywhere. Ebay is too high for me.

I lost one of the 1/12 GITD Freddy Jokers on eBay, although a lot of them seem to move around often enough, so my hope isn't lost yet..

The regular Cheshire Cat. I was already collecting Pops when the line came out. I saw it in the Disney store and thought, "I'll get it at a later time!" I never did >_<

I remember having the entire 4 pack of those it my cart at retail (perhaps a year ago) and decided not to buy because of the shipping. Man I would kill to have those now.

I had a Zombie Jake in my Amazon wish list for a while
It was like $28 and I was thinking it was too much
Other SDCC ones that year were a lil lower and easier to find
I wish I bought it then because now the lowest I've seen for it is 75

Mine was also Headless Ned. After SDCC HBO was selling a few on their online shop, and for $40 I couldn't bring myself to do it. Now I regret that every day.

I'll never forget it.

When I first started collecting, I browsed Amazon to get a feel of what else was out there. I found King Leonidas. I thought he looked incredible, and I put him on my wish list immediately. I kept saying "Oh, I'll get around to buying him." and before I knew it, he was out of stock.

He was going for about $10 Bucks at the time.
I wish I had just bought him then.

Seeing the same chase GitD Beetlejuice sitting on the shelf at Hastings for months, not knowing the difference between that and any of the others. This was way before I was into collecting. I still kick myself over that one.

I've got a few of them. My biggest regret (since Batman villains are my number one love and my favorite things to collect) is seeing Riddler, Penguin, and Two-Face on the shelf for months at B&N and never picking them up. Same thing with TDKR Bane. I wasn't collecting POP!s back then, but always looked at them and planned to start a collection one day. Little did I know that those 4 pieces (that are all must haves) would be unattainable by the time I got around to it.

Another I kick myself for daily is Harley Quinn with Mallet. They had 4 of them at my comic shop forever. They also had 4 of the pop gun version, so I assumed it was a 50/50 variant and wasn't anything special. Also... this same comic shop ended up clearancing the TDKR Bane and Catwoman POP!s and selling them for $5.

Most recently, X-Force Deadpool. It's totally common to see the same 8 of the current "HOT" exclusive sit on the shelf for weeks at my Hot Topic. So much so, that I've developed an "I don't have to buy it now" mentality toward HT exclusives. They had 6 of the X-Force Deadpools for 4 or 5 weeks so I kept putting it off. Went back to get it and they were all gone. Haven't seen it since. Thankfully those are still cheap on eBay and not as heartbreaking as missing out on Riddler and Two-Face (2 of my 3 favorite villains, btw.

I have two. One was totally under my control it was peashooter, I saw him in Barnes and noble and decided not to get him because I was not collecting pops at the time

The other one was not really my fault. My local comic book shop that I go to about once a week had a blue Tobias. I didnt go that week, friend of mine told me he saw it there and if he had known I was collecting them would have bought it for me.

I regret not getting Ursula when I had the chance. I always put off buying her, thinking, "Well, she's not GOING anywhere." Now, I can't find her anywhere.

I'm really sorry I missed out on getting Two-Face when Popcultcha had him in stock. I was broke at the time. He's still the POP! I regret not buying the most. I wasn't collecting when he was still in stores, but I remember seeing him and thinking he was cute. Yeah, I'm kicking myself forever for not jumping on buying him. He's my favorite comics character, so, yeah. Still hurts.

I have 2, and both were for my daughter:
After months and months of searching, I finally found one of her 'grail' pieces: Gold SpongeBob Shellabration on e-bay for a BIN $25. Bought it, but the seller never shipped. Then after 2 weeks of trying to reach him, he sends me a message that he was out of town and that he will ship (a week AFTER her Birthday, but whatever). Well, he never shipped and has since been removed from e-bay.
The second was last month, I made a trade on the Facebook trade group: my Manhunter for a Winny the Pooh for my daughter. Well, the scumbag I traded with once he received my package blocked my FB. After I posted and alerted the admins, he had since deleted his FB account.

Mine was a gitd green lantern in the funko force 2.0 bubble package. I had bought a metallic Hal Jordan at sdcc and found the gitd lantern buy it now on eBay for 28.00 shipped. Watched it for months in my eBay and never bought it. Still kicking myself for that.

Mine is passing up on bunch of Banes and Red Dragon Daenerys before I started collecting. I ended up with a red dragon error out of sheer luck. I also saw a Gammorean Guard a few weeks ago and didn't get it. Now I can't remember which shop it was in and I'm sure its gone.
