2 with Chase case question

Random question, but I'm curious if my Hot Topic pulled a switcheroo on me.

I went in and asked if they had Spider-Man Dorbz in. They went in the back and came back with a box that said "2 with Chase" and the guy proceeded to open the box and there were 3 regular Spider-Man Dorbz.

My question is why does the box say 2 with Chase? I know Chases are 1:6 so shouldn't the box say 3 with the chance of a Chase?

I think chases are still 1:6, but the 'with chase' just designates that that character has a possible chase.

I believe the boxes are marked that there is a possibility of a case. I was looking for the chase eleven and was at my Hot Topic when they open the boxes right there in front of me and neither box had a Chase in it.

It doesnt matter what the box says. The w/chase part on the side of a shipper literally means that the item was produced with a chase variant. The way hot topic gets their funko items in totally skews the actual ratio. HT gets their funko items in boxes of 3. So even when they get in two boxes of 3 you are not guaranteed one chase. On the other hand they could get two boxes of 3 and you could get 2 chases (one per box).

To directly respond though... the only place I have seen something marked 2 pcs w/chase is at Gamestop and theirs work the same way. Not guarenteed a chase.

Oh, yeah the 1:6 ratio only applies for inner shippers of 6 pcs directly sent from Funko to vendor or master cases of 36 (6 inner shippers of 6). Hot Topic has gotten their Funko items in shippers of 3 for quite some time. GStop has gotten their items in shippers of 2 for a while as well.

Not shady, just really how it is. Sucks, because you really dont know what your walking in to when you go hunting. A store really could get 3 boxes of 3 and have no chases or 3 chases (one per box). It just all is random.

Yeah its wild. My closest store is super low volume so they literally get in one shipper of 3. Needless to say that the chance for chases there are doo doo. Likewise, the northern stores get SEVERAL boxes of 3 (higher volume) and have been known to get like 3-4 of a chase because there's more chances for them to get em.
