Stupid question time - posting images?

Postby pottertub86 » Thu Aug 25, 2016 3:41 pm

HI all,

*stupid question warning*

I want to post my collection photos to the your display your way board but am running into difficulties. I have 13 pictures to upload, and I understand that I need to use a picture sharing program.

I tried tiny pic and it changed it from portrait to landscape? Please help? Any advice appreciated!

Many thanks
K

Did you take the pics with an iPhone? If so it can be VERY aggravating because there's some kind of header info with auto-rotate info, and some sites and programs recognize it and will rotate the photo while others do not. I run across this all the time trying to post photos to this site, because you can''t tell which ones an iPhone has rotated versus not rotated. Often a photo looks right on my phone, looks right when downloaded to my laptop, looks right after I post it on my web site, then I post the image link here in IMG tags and BOOM, rotated 90 degrees! UUUUUUUUUUUUGH. And to make things more frustrating, if I rotate the image so it displays right here, it's rotated wrong everywhere else. The only workaround I've figured out is to screenshot the pic and create a new image of it in Paint and overwrite the original image on my web site. Then it shows up correctly everywhere, apparently because it doesn't import the auto-rotate info with it.
Howdy, I'm Tres :-)

Hi yes I did do it with iPhone! So this explains why it rotated! Thanks!

Following the tutorials as linked above I used Imgur and it appears to to have worked so managed to upload now :D

Good deal, if it works then stick with it lol Imgur may fix that issue in the download process. I'm downloading pics directly to my web page space, so there's no auto correcting of iPhone's orientation header.
