Regarding prototypes
Hello all, was wondering how one authenticates prototypes of pops. Say as an example the gitd goku has had multiple protos sold by the same person. Are these most likely knockoff protos?? Thanks in advanced!

Re: Regarding prototypes
Unfortunately, unless you attend an officially sponsored Funko event or buy through a legitimate dealer like Gemini Collectibles (and a handful of other dealers), there's no real way to "authenticate" protos. If you get a proto from either of those places, you can be reasonably certain they are legit. Additionally, I feel confident that the overwhelming majority of the people on this board can be trusted (though there can still be bad apples that slip through).
To answer your other question, they're most likely fakes.... or the seller is either ignorant, or is inappropriately labeling something a proto to get more views for an ebay sale. GITD protos are very rare. And I think it's even rarer that a production piece, that has a glow variant, would have a proto that glows. There's a very small number of protos that get made for a given figure (probably less than 10), if the same seller has more than 1 for sale.... I would be even more suspicious.

Check sold listings. They're likely making their own. Well over 100 sold.
Actually, always check sold listings. When you see more than one sold by the same seller and from the same region (China) walk away. Goku, Loki, WWE are some that you'll see over and over again.

That's the first thing I did was check the sold. Someone else had told me they bought one and I was skeptical but didn't want to burst their bubble that they're probably not legitimate ones.

Re: Regarding prototypes
It's a very slippery slope for sure. I would always ask where they got it and if they have any proof that it came from the aformentioned places (Funday's or Gemini, etc). I only own 1 POP proto, and 2 Wobbler proto's. I assure you i combed through the seller's history and asked lots of questions prior to buying. Good luck pal!!
